Baar (region)
The Baar () is a plateau that lies 600 to 900 metres above sea level in southwest Germany. It is bordered by the southeastern edge of the Black Forest to the west, the southwestern part of the Swabian Alb known as the Heuberg to the east, and the Randen mountain to the south. The Baar contains the source of the Neckar (a bog in Villingen-Schwenningen) and the Danube. The sources of the Danube, the Brigach and Breg, originate in Furtwangen im Schwarzwald and Sankt Georgen im Schwarzwald and join the smaller Donaubach in Donaueschingen. The coldest point in Germany is also located at Donaueschingen in a low cold air basin which experiences its first frost as early as September 20 on average, earlier than the surrounding Black Forest. Hüfingen (Low Alemannic: ''Hifinge'') is a town in the district of Schwarzwald-Baar, in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is situated on the river Breg, 4 km south of the source of the Danube. History Hüfingen has the historical distinction of once marking the boundary of the Roman empire. In the first century of the common era, imperial policy settled on using the natural boundaries formed by the Danube and the Rhine rivers. Because of its proximity to the source of the Danube in nearby Donaueschingen, Hüfingen was the site of a Roman fort, Brigobanne, built to implement this policy. Vöhrenbach is a town in the district of Schwarzwald-Baar, in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is situated on the river Breg (river), Breg, 12 km west of Villingen-Schwenningen. Geography The town of Vöhrenbach lies in the Breg valley in the central Black Forest between Furtwangen im Schwarzwald, Furtwangen and Villingen-Schwenningen. The land belonging to the town is heavily forested, comprising 77% of the total area. Königsfeld Im Schwarzwald
Königsfeld im Schwarzwald ( Low Alemannic: ''Kinnigsfeld'') is a town in the district of Schwarzwald-Baar in Baden-Württemberg in Germany. It is the northernmost town of the district Schwarzwald Baar. Königsfeld has six boroughs (Königsfeld, Neuhausen, Erdmannsweiler, Buchenberg, Burgberg and Weiler). Founded in 1807, it is a centre of the Moravian Church. Until after the Second World War, most of the town's inhabitants continued to be Moravians and the ''Vorsteher'' (congregational business manager) of the Congregation also served as ''de facto'' Mayor of the town. After the war, great numbers of refugees from former eastern provinces of Germany settled in the town. Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald (french: Arrondissement de Brisgau-Haute-Forêt-Noire) is a (district) in the southwest of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Fifty towns and municipalities with 133 settlements lie within the district. The district itself belongs to the region of Freiburg with the region of Southern Upper Rhine.
