''B for Brotherhood'' is the fifth album by pop group Brotherhood of Man. It was released in June 1978 and released on Pye Records. Brotherhood Of Man
Brotherhood of Man are a British pop group who achieved success in the 1970s. They won the 1976 Eurovision Song Contest with "Save Your Kisses for Me". Created in 1969 by songwriter and record producer Tony Hiller, Brotherhood of Man was initially an umbrella title for a frequently-changing line-up of session singers. Early on, they scored a worldwide hit with the song "United We Stand". By 1973 the concept had run its course and Hiller formed a definite four-member line-up consisting of Martin Lee, Lee Sheriden, Nicky Stevens and Sandra Stevens. This version of the group went on to score many hits around the world in the mid to late 1970s including "Kiss Me Kiss Your Baby", " Angelo", "Oh Boy (The Mood I'm In)" and " Figaro". Beaconsfield ( ) is a market town and civil parish within the unitary authority of Buckinghamshire, England, west-northwest of central London and south-southeast of Aylesbury. This is a discography of the singles and albums of British pop group Brotherhood of Man. All singles and albums from 1974 are from a completely different line-up to the earlier releases. The earlier releases (on the Deram label) were credited to ''The'' Brotherhood of Man. The group's first appearance on the chart was on 14 February 1970 in the UK with the single " United We Stand". This went on to become a hit in many other countries, including the US. The first chart appearance of the later line-up is with the 1974 single "Lady" in Belgium and Holland. The first appearance by this line-up in the UK is with the single "Save Your Kisses For Me" on 13 March 1976. Sandra Stevens
Sandra Stevens (born 23 November 1944, Leeds, Yorkshire) is an English singer and member of pop group Brotherhood of Man. Early career Sandra Stevens first entered into a singing career in the 1960s when she joined the club band, The Track (who then changed their name to The Nocturnes). The group was formed by drummer Ross Mitchell and among the six members Stevens sang vocals alongside Eve Graham (later of The New Seekers). Based in Manchester, the band played local clubs, performing pop hits of the day such as "The Loco-Motion" and "Da Doo Ron Ron". In early 1967 Stevens decided to leave the group and was replaced by Lyn Paul (also later of The New Seekers). Over the next few years she sang with the big bands of Joe Loss and Ken MacKintosh and also joined another group, Jason Flocks. Nicky Stevens
Nicky Stevens (born Helen Maria Thomas in Carmarthen, Wales, 3 December 1949) is a singer, famous as a member of pop group Brotherhood of Man. She is the only Welsh person to have won the Eurovision Song Contest. Early career Nicky Stevens began singing at an early age. At the age of four she was singing in a chapel in Carmarthen, and following lessons eventually joined the Hywel Girls Choir. She also studied classical music as a singer and pianist. At the age of 16 she held a residency in Swansea's Townsman nightclub. During this period she also took on a job as a telephone operator. This lasted for nine months and is the only job she has ever had outside the entertainment business. She later toured the Continent as a singer, performing in night clubs. Following this she went on to tour South Africa as well as clubs around the UK. Martin Lee (singer)
Martin Lee (born 26 November 1946) is an English singer-songwriter, best known as a member of the pop group Brotherhood of Man. Early career Lee was born Martin Barnes in Purley, Surrey, but spent five years of his youth in Australia. As a teenager, he had a great interest in music and after learning to play guitar he formed his first band. In the early 1970s, he came to the attention of songwriter and publisher Tony Hiller, while he was working as lead singer with the Johnny Howard Band. Hiller signed him up to his company, Tony Hiller Music initially as a writer. On discovering that he could sing as well, he asked him to be part of the group he managed, Brotherhood of Man. ''Higher Than High'' is a 1979 album released by British pop group Brotherhood of Man. It was released in June and contained four singles. Background The album was released in June 1979 on Pye Records. It featured four singles, "Middle of the Night", "Goodbye Goodbye", "Papa Louis" and "Taxi" but failed to chart. "Middle of the Night" had already appeared on the group's Greatest Hits compilation released some months earlier and was the only single to chart. At the time the group had a regular spot on the Rolf Harris show, ''Rolf on Saturday, OK?'', where they sang several songs from the album (namely "Papa Louis", "Middle of the Night", "Taxi", "Sleeping Beauty" and "Olé Olé"). Peters and Lee were a successful British folk and pop duo of the 1970s and 1980s, comprising Lennie Peters (22 November 1931 – 10 October 1992, Enfield, Middlesex) and Dianne Lee (born February 1949). Background Lennie Peters (AKA Gary Hall; born Leonard George Sargent, 22 November 1931, Islington, North London), an uncle of Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts, was blinded in one eye during a car accident when he was five years old. A thrown brick blinded his other eye when he was sixteen. Before Peters and Lee, he was a pianist playing the London pub scene. Guys 'n' Dolls
Guys 'n' Dolls were a UK pop group, initially comprising a three-girl/three-boy line-up and later becoming two-girl/two-boy. In the mid-1970s, they scored UK top-ten hits with the singles " There's a Whole Lot of Loving" and "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me". In the late 1970s they found further success in the Netherlands, where they had a number-one hit with "You're My World". Colin Michael Frechter (born August 1938) is a musical director, arranger, keyboard player, and vocalist. Biography Frechter attended Aldenham School in Elstree.
