BYU–Hawaii Seasiders
The BYU–Hawaii Seasiders (also Brigham Young–Hawaii Seasiders and BYUH Seasiders) were the 11 varsity athletic teams that represented Brigham Young University–Hawaii, located in Laie, Hawaii, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. The Seasiders competed as members of the Pacific West Conference before dropping their athletic program after the 2016–17 season. Brigham Young University–Hawaii
Brigham Young University–Hawaii (BYU–Hawaii) is a private university in Laie, Hawaii. It is owned and operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). BYU-Hawaii was founded in 1955, and became a satellite campus of Brigham Young University (BYU) in 1974. In 2004, it was made a separate institution. The university's sole focus is on undergraduate education. The university is broadly organized into four colleges, and its parent organization, the Church Educational System (CES), sponsors sister schools in Utah and Idaho. The University of Puget Sound (UPS or Puget Sound) is a private university in Tacoma, Washington. The university draws approximately 2,600 students from 44 states and 16 countries. It offers 1,200 courses each year in more than 50 traditional and interdisciplinary areas of study. The university is affiliated with the United Methodist Church. History The University of Puget Sound was founded by the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1888 in downtown Tacoma. The idea for a college in Tacoma originated with Charles Henry Fowler, who had previously been the president of Northwestern University. Fowler was in Tacoma for a Methodist conference when he spoke of his vision of a Christian institution of learning in the area. The IU Indy Jaguars are the 18 intercollegiate teams that represent Indiana University Indianapolis, in Indianapolis, Indiana, U.S. They compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I. The teams were established by Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). The Jaguars were originally known as the IUPUI Metros. Lewis & Clark College is a private liberal arts college in Portland, Oregon. NAIA Women's Volleyball Championship
The NAIA Women's Volleyball National Championship is the annual tournament to determine the national champions of NAIA women's collegiate indoor volleyball in the United States and Canada. It has been held annually since 1980. The most successful program was BYU–Hawaii, with 10 NAIA national titles (BYUH subsequently joined the NCAA and discontinued sports in 2017). The current champions are Missouri Baptist, who won its first national title in 2020 and repeated as champions in 2021. The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) established in 1940, is a college athletics association for colleges and universities in North America.
