BR-471
The BR-471 is a Brazilian federal highway that connects the cities of Soledade and Chuí, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. It has a total length of 648.2 km. It begins in Soledade, coinciding with the BR-153, called Rodovia Transbrasiliana, passing through Barros Cassal and Herveiras, where the independent highway is assumed as RST (in the old nomenclature) 471, crossing the Municipalities of Sinimbu, Rio Pardinho, Santa Cruz . do Sul, Rio Pardo, Pantano Grande, Encruzilhada do Sul and Canguçu to Coxilha do Fogo where BR-392 is located (and continues as) to Pelotas, where it coincides with BR-116 and a little later again with BR-392 passing through Povo Novo to Quinta (district of Rio Grande), when it leaves the BR-392 and becomes the Brigadeiro José da Silva Pais Highway, the original BR-471 from the 50s to the 90s, passing through Santa Vitória do Palmar and finally ending in Chuí, the extreme point and the southernmost city in Brazil. Santa Vitória Do Palmar
Santa Vitória do Palmar (lit. "Saint Victoria of the Palms") is a Brazilian city and municipality. It is the southernmost municipality in Brazil, located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. To the west of the municipality is the Lagoa Mirim and beyond that is Uruguay; to the east and southeast lies the Atlantic Ocean, and to the north is the city of Rio Grande. To the south, it borders the municipality of Chuí and Uruguay. The city proper is located approximately inland from the Atlantic, east of Lagoa Mirim and north of the Uruguayan border at Chuí. The city is traversed by the Brazilian federal highway BR-471, the most important road link between Brazil and Uruguay. Soledade
Soledade is a municipality in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The city is nicknamed the ''Cidade das Pedras Preciosas'' meaning the ''City of Precious Stones'' or ''Rare Gems''. Much of the amethyst sold in the world comes from the mines of Rio Grande do Sul near Soledade. Most of the factories in Soledade process and sell these stones internationally. As of 2020, the estimated population was 31,035. Its other famous export apart from its precious stones, is Fábio Rochemback who played football for Grêmio. Another notable citizen was Joaquim Mauricio Cardoso, a lawyer, professor, and politician. Chuí
Chuí () is a municipality located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. It's the southernmost municipality of Brazil, located in the coordinates 33°41′0″S . A border town, it shares its name with sister city Chuy, Uruguay. The two towns constitute one contiguous urban area, divided by a border street called ''Avenida Internacional'', a situation also seen in a few other Brazilian border points, such as between Santana do Livramento (Brazil) and Rivera (Uruguay). Formerly a village under the jurisdiction of the municipality of Santa Vitória do Palmar, Chuí became the southernmost municipality in Brazil in 1997, when it seceded.
