BINGO (telescope)
BINGO (Baryon Acoustic Oscillations from Integrated Neutral Gas Observations) is a transit radio telescope currently under construction that will observe redshifted hydrogen line emission (between z = 0.13 and 0.45) by intensity mapping to measure dark energy through baryon acoustic oscillations (BAO) in the radio frequency band. The BINGO Project is an international collaboration headed by University of São Paulo, and also collaborates with researches from many countries, such as Brazil (National Institute of Space Research and Federal University of Campina Grande), China (University of Yangzhou) and England (University of Manchester and University College of London), besides support from institutions as Shanghai Jiao Tong (China), Institute for Basic Science (South Korea), IAP - Institut d’Astrophysique de Paris (France), University of Rome (Italy), IAC - Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (Spain), Max Planck Institute (Germany), KwaZulu-Natal University (South Africa), ...

Transit Telescope
In astronomy, a transit instrument is a small telescope with extremely precisely graduated telescope mount, mount used for the precise observation of star positions. They were previously widely used in astronomical observatory, astronomical observatories and naval observatory, naval observatories to measure star positions in order to compile nautical almanacs for use by mariners for celestial navigation, and observe star transits to set extremely accurate clocks (regulator clock, astronomical regulators) which were used to set marine chronometers carried on ships to determine longitude, and as primary time standards before atomic clocks. The instruments can be divided into three groups: meridian, zenith, and universal instruments. Types Meridian instruments For observation of star transits in the exact direction of South or North: * Meridian circles, Mural quadrants etc. * Passage instruments (transportable, also for prime vertical transits) Zenith instruments * Zenith tel ...

The Federal University of Campina Grande ( pt, Universidade Federal de Campina Grande, UFCG) is a public university whose main campus is located in the city of Campina Grande, Paraíba, Brazil. Together with the Federal University of Paraíba, it is the main university of the state of Paraiba, Brazil. Established after splitting from UFPB in 2002, it is one of the leading technological and scientific production institutes of northeastern Brazil, being mentioned in a 2001 edition of the Newsweek magazine as a technopole - among 9 other around the world - that represents a new vision for technology. It was again quoted in 2003 as the Brazilian silicon valley. It is one of the five institutions to have a continuous international concept from the Coordenadoria de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (grade over 5) in the Electrical Engineering Postgraduate Program, and one of the two to simultaneously hold a concept of 5 stars in the Technological Department (Electrical E ...

Crossed Dragone
The Crossed Dragone Telescope is an off-axis telescope design consisting of a parabolic primary mirror and a large concave secondary mirror arranged so that the focal plane is at right angles to the incoming light. In this configuration the polarization of light is preserved through the optics. Other advantages of this design are a large field of view in a compact volume. Due to its off-axis nature the secondary mirror does not block any of the incoming light. At millimeter and submillimeter wavelengths this greatly decreases systematic effects due to diffraction. The main disadvantage is that the size of the secondary mirror is of similar size to the primary mirror making it expensive to make and heavy (requiring large supports). However, for professional applications where low systematic effects are critical (for example in cosmic microwave background In Big Bang cosmology the cosmic microwave background (CMB, CMBR) is electromagnetic radiation that is a remnant from an ...
