BER Airport – Terminal 5 station (german: Bahnhof Flughafen BER – Terminal 5) (formerly named Berlin Schönefeld Airport station and to be named Schönefeld (bei Berlin) station from December 2023) is a railway station in Schönefeld next to the formerly independent Berlin Schönefeld Airport, which has now been re-branded as Terminal 5 of Berlin Brandenburg Airport, just outside Berlin. The station is on the Grünauer Kreuz–Berlin Brandenburg Airport railway and is served by S-Bahn lines S9 and S45. It is also served by RB 24 and RB 32. History Schönefeld Airport Berlin-Schönefeld railway station was built within 150 days and opened for the public on 10 July 1951 as part of the Berliner Außenring. The Verkehrsverbund Berlin-Brandenburg (VBB) is a transport association run by public transport providers in the German states of Berlin and Brandenburg. It is a private limited company owned jointly by the states of Berlin and Brandenburg (with one third each) and the 18 counties and cities of Brandenburg with 1.85% each. Eberswalde Hauptbahnhof
Eberswalde Hauptbahnhof is historically the most important and now the only remaining station in the city of Eberswalde in the German state of Brandenburg. It was opened in the summer of 1842 outside the then city limits on the Berlin–Szczecin railway. The city fathers of Eberswalde did not want a modern railway in their city, so the station was built three kilometres west of the city centre in a wooded area where the Westend district is today. Station Eberswalde was one of the first cities in Germany to be connected by rail. Seven years after the first German railway line was opened between Nuremberg and Fürth, it was then still unusual for German cities to be connected to the very new railway networks.
