National Basketball League (Lithuania)
The National Basketball League (NKL) (), also known as 7bet-NKL for sponsorship reasons, is the second-tier basketball minor league in Lithuania. It is placed below the top division Lietuvos krepšinio lyga (LKL). The competition currently consists of 14 teams. The champions of the league have the option to promote to the LKL. However, this rarely happens, as most clubs do not meet the requirements for budget and seating capacity. Telšiai (; Samogitian: ''Telšē'') is a city in Lithuania with about 21,499 inhabitants. It is the capital of Telšiai County and Samogitia region, and it is located on the shores of Lake Mastis. Telšiai is one of the oldest cities in Lithuania, probably dating earlier than the 14th century. Between the 15th and 20th centuries, Telšiai became a district capital and between 1795 and 1802 it was included in the Vilnius Governorate. In 1873, Telšiai was transferred to the Kovno Governorate. RKL ''(Lithuanian: Regioninė Krepšinio Lyga, English: Regional Basketball League)'' is a third Lithuania basketball league. Regional Basketball League started their activity in 2005. RKL consists of 32 basketball teams from 28 Lithuania cities. Regions divided to four groups: Aukštaitija, Žemaitija, Suvalkija and center of Lithuania. Each group has eight basketball teams.
