BBC Sports Editor
The post of BBC Sports Editor was established in October 2006. The first incumbent was Mihir Bose. Bose resigned in August 2009. He was succeeded in December 2009 by David Bond. Mihir Bose
Mihir Bose (born 12 January 1947) is a British Indian journalist and author. He writes a weekly "Big Sports Interview" for the ''London Evening Standard'', and also writes and broadcasts on sport and social and historical issues for several outlets including the BBC, the ''Financial Times'' and ''Sunday Times''. He was the BBC Sports Editor until 4 August 2009. He has written for most of the major UK newspapers and several business publications, presented programmes for radio and television, and written 26 books including a history of Bollywood and various books on football and cricket. Early life Bose is of Indian origin. Born in Calcutta, he grew up in Bombay, now Mumbai. He went from India to the UK in 1969 to study engineering at Loughborough University. David Bond (journalist)
David Bond is an English journalist, who was sports editor of BBC News, from 2009–2014. Bond began his journalistic career on the ''South London Press'' covering Millwall F.C., the football club he supports. Bond then became sports news correspondent at the ''Sunday Times,'' before being appointed deputy sports editor at the ''Evening Standard.'' Bond was appointed the BBC's Sport Editor in 2009, replacing Mihir Bose. Bond's reporting of the men's cycling road race at the London 2012 Olympics on 28 July attracted criticism from many viewers. After the race, in which British cyclists failed to win a medal, he asked British pre-race favourite Mark Cavendish, "Was Tour de France tiredness a factor?", to which Cavendish responded, "Stop asking stupid questions. Daniel Roan (born 31 December 1976) is the sports editor for BBC News, currently employed by BBC Sport. Biography Daniel Roan was born on 31 December 1976 and was brought up in Northampton, England. Roan went to Wellingborough School. He matriculated at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge in 1995 to read Social and Political Sciences. He graduated with a second-class degree in 1998. In 2012, Roan was banned from all media activity involving Manchester City following an interview with Patrick Vieira, which had been originally arranged to promote Football Against Hunger, a charity Vieira was involved with. Vieira was quoted in the interview as stating that city rivals Manchester United receive favourable refereeing decisions when playing at home. Roan was accused of deliberately taking Vieira's comments out of context and engaging in "leading and aggressive questioning".
