BBC Newsline
''BBC Newsline'' is the BBC's national television news programme for Northern Ireland, broadcast on BBC One Northern Ireland from the headquarters of BBC Northern Ireland in Ormeau Avenue, Belfast. As well as being available via all multi-channel outlets in Northern Ireland (including via Sky channel 101), the programme can be accessed by the rest of the United Kingdom (along with all other regional BBC news programmes) on the BBC iPlayer, or alternatively on Sky channel 973. Viewers from the Republic of Ireland with a Sky subscription can also watch on Sky channel 141. As the BBC UK regional TV on satellite service is broadcast unencrypted, it is possible to receive ''BBC Newsline'' anywhere in Europe using an appropriate receiver. Declan Harvey
Declan Harvey (born 28 November 1983) is a journalist and presenter with BBC News. He anchors the BBC's flagship nightly television news programme in Northern Ireland, ''BBC Newsline'', and the daily radio drive time news programme, ''Evening Extra'', on BBC Radio Ulster. Early life Declan was born and grew up in Letterkenny, County Donegal, in the north-west of Ulster. He attended Scoil Colmcille and St Eunan's College. He moved to England to attend drama school aged 19. Early career Declan is a classically trained actor and holds a first-class honours degree in acting from Rose Bruford College. Barry Cowan (broadcaster)
Barry Cowan (1 February 1948 – 16 June 2004) was a high-profile journalist and broadcaster with BBC Northern Ireland. In 1974, he became the anchor of BBC Northern Ireland's flagship evening television news programme ''Scene Around Six'', which established him as a household name in Northern Ireland. This involved bringing the news into people's homes during some of the worst years of the Northern Irish Troubles. In 1986, he became the first presenter of BBC Radio Ulster's popular '' Talk Back'' programme (he was succeeded by his close friend David Dunseith in 1989) and also presented the station's ''Good Morning Ulster'', ''Evening Extra'' and ''Seven Days'' programmes. Sarah Travers
Sarah Travers (born 3 April 1974 in Belfast, Northern Ireland) is a journalist. In her seventeen years working for BBC Northern Ireland she was most recently a presenter for ''BBC Newsline'' until 2013. Career After attending Dominican College, Portstewart, Travers studied broadcast journalism at Nottingham Trent University. She began her broadcasting career while studying at Nottingham Trent, working at BBC Radio Nottingham and Central News. She joined BBC Radio Foyle in 1995 as a freelance reporter and news bulletin presenter and moved to the BBC newsroom in Belfast in 1997. In 2013, she ended her career as a reporter and presenter on ''BBC Newsline''. Soon after leaving the BBC, Travers hosted ''The Magazine'', a UTV lifestyle programme launched in April 2013. Donna Traynor (born 1965 or 1966) is a journalist and broadcaster in Northern Ireland. She is best known as the former main anchor of ''BBC Newsline''. Early life and education Traynor was born in Lisburn, but moved to Dublin with her family as a child. She has three sisters. Angie Phillips
Angie Phillips is a British meteorologist for BBC Newsline. She trained at the Met Office's College in Reading, Berkshire and joined the service in 1985. Phillips' first job in forecasting was at the Belfast Climate Office. Later, while working at the Met Office in Aldergrove, she became part of the ITN weather team. BBC Radio Ulster ( ga, BBC Raidió Uladh) is a Northern Irish radio station owned and operated by BBC Northern Ireland, a division of the BBC. It was established on New Year's Day 1975, replacing what had been an opt-out of BBC Radio 4. It is broadcast on radio across Northern Ireland and parts of the Republic of Ireland, and on digital television services across all of Ireland. According to RAJAR, the station broadcasts to a weekly audience of 469,000 with a listening share of 17.8% as of September 2022. Jim Dougal
James Dougal (19 March 1945 – 15 October 2010) was a Northern Irish journalist, writer and broadcaster who had worked, from 1969 until shortly before his death for RTÉ, UTV and the BBC. He was said to have maintained a long friendship with Ian Paisley. He created a production company, Dougal Media, for which he made profiles of Paisley and Margaret Thatcher. His greatest passion, though, was his family. He is survived by his wife, Deirdre, daughters Tara, Emma and Tina, a stepdaughter, Nicola, and a son, James. UTV (TV Channel)
UTV (formerly Ulster Television, branded on air as ITV1) is the ITV region covering Northern Ireland, ITV subsidiary and the former on-air name of the free-to-air public broadcast television channel serving the area. It is run by ITV plc and is responsible for the regional news service and other programmes made principally for the area. The modern TV channel, ITV, is directly descended from the network of the same name, consisting of independent regional companies which were once the only commercial TV broadcasters in their area.
