Béatrice Tillier (born 18 September 1972) is a French illustrator and ''bande dessinée'' (BD) cartoonist. In 2008, ''Le Bois des Vierges'' was shortlisted for the Prix Saint-Michel, Prix Saint-Michel's Best comic (French language). Biography Béatrice Tillier was born in Lyon, France, 18 September 1972. Heroic Fantasy
Heroic fantasy is a subgenre of fantasy in which events occur in a world where magic is prevalent and modern technology is nonexistent. The setting may be entirely fictitious in nature or based upon Earth with some additions. Unlike dark fiction, it provides a setting in which "all men are strong, all women beautiful, all life adventurous, and all problems simple". This means that adventures based in heroic fantasy are unlikely to mention any wider problems that cannot be fixed by a quest. Characters within heroic fantasy are likely to be underdogs of humble origin who are placed in situations forcing them to act in a heroic manner, past what is expected of them. Colorist
In comics, a colorist is responsible for adding color to black-and-white line art. For most of the 20th century this was done using brushes and dyes which were then used as guides to produce the printing plates. Since the late 20th century it is most often done using digital media, with printing separations produced electronically. Although most American colorists work directly for comics publishers (either as employees or freelancers), there are a few coloring studios which offer their services to publishers. American Color, Olyoptics, Digital Chameleon were the companies notable in this field. Angoulême International Comics Festival Prize For First Comic Book
The ''Prix Révélation'' (Prize of Revelation or Debut Prize) is one of the prizes awarded by the Angoulême International Comics Festival. This prize honors cartoonists who are early in their career. Some version of the prize has been awarded almost every year since the first festival in 1974. At first it was called the Prize of Best Hope (''prix du meilleur espoir''), then in 1985 it was reborn as the Prize for Best First Album (''prix du meilleur premier album''). In 1989, as the whole award ceremony was renamed after Hergé's unfinished book ''Alph-Art'', this prize became the Alph-Art coup de cœur and was awarded to authors with up to three published works. Société Dargaud, doing business as Les Éditions Dargaud, is a publisher of Franco-Belgian comics series, headquartered in the 18th arrondissement of Paris. It was founded in 1936 by Georges Dargaud (), publishing its first comics in 1943. History Initially, Dargaud published novels for women. In 1948, it started '' Line'', a "magazine for elegant women", as well as a French edition of the Belgian ''Tintin'' magazine. Triptych
A triptych ( ; from the Greek language, Greek adjective ''τρίπτυχον'' "''triptukhon''" ("three-fold"), from ''tri'', i.e., "three" and ''ptysso'', i.e., "to fold" or ''ptyx'', i.e., "fold") is a work of art (usually a panel painting) that is divided into three sections, or three Wood carving, carved panels that are hinged together and can be folded shut or displayed open. It is therefore a type of polyptych, the term for all multi-panel works.
