The Montcalm Builders (french: Bâtisseurs de Montcalm) are a professional ice hockey team based in Saint-Roch-de-l'Achigan, Quebec, Canada. The team is part of the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey (LNAH), and plays at the Complexe JC Perreault. The team was announced as an expansion team for the LNAH in April 2022 with the intent to begin play immediately in the 2022–23 season following an expansion draft set for early June 2022. The team announced its first head coach, Éric Labrosse, on June 1, 2022. However, Labrosse left the team before its first game to become an assistant coach for the Moncton Wildcats and was replaced by Daniel Gauthier Daniel Gauthier (born May 17, 1970) is a Canadian former ice hockey centre. Saint-Roch-de-l'Achigan, Quebec
Saint-Roch-de-l'Achigan is a Quebec municipality located in the Montcalm Regional County Municipality located in the Lanaudière region. It is on the banks of the Achigan River, a tributary of the L'Assomption River. According to the town's website, the population is approximately 5,1and growing steadily as a result of the suburban sprawl in the North Shore of Greater Montreal. History The first settlers arrived near the 1770s and built a flour mill on a township located alongside the Rivière de l'Achigan. The area was located on the northern edges of the first developed lands that were located along both sides of the Saint Lawrence River. Daniel Gauthier
Daniel Gauthier (born May 17, 1970) is a Canadian former ice hockey centre. Gauthier was drafted 62nd overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft. He turned pro in 1990 in the International Hockey League with the Albany Choppers for one game before joining the ECHL's Knoxville Cherokees, scoring 41 goals and 93 assists for 134 points. In his rookie season Gauthier was named to the 1990–91 ECHL First All-Star Team and also won the John A. Daley Trophy as the ECHL's Rookie of the Year. He then had spells in the IHL for the Muskegon Lumberjacks and later the Cleveland Lumberjacks following their relocation. In 1993, Gauthier signed with the Florida Panthers as a free agent, but was assigned to the IHL's Cincinnati Cyclones and never played for the Panthers. The Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey (LNAH, ''"North American Hockey League"'') is a low-level professional ice hockey league based in the Canadian province of Quebec. Teams in the LNAH compete for the Vertdure Cup. Moncton Wildcats
The Moncton Wildcats are a junior ice hockey team in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League from Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. The franchise was granted for the 1995–96 season, known as the Moncton Alpines for one season, and as the Wildcats since. The team played at the Moncton Coliseum from 1995 until 2018, and moved into the Avenir Centre for the 2018–19 season. After winning the 2005–06 QMJHL championship, the team hosted the 2006 Memorial Cup. The Wildcats also won the 2009–10 QMJHL championship, which sent the team to compete in the 2010 Memorial Cup in Brandon, Manitoba.
