Edwin B. Hay is a public artwork by American artist Vinnie Ream, located at Rock Creek Cemetery in Washington, D.C., United States. "Edwin B. Hay" was surveyed as part of the Smithsonian's Save Outdoor Sculpture! program in 1993. It serves as the gravesite for the Hay family. Vinnie Ream
Lavinia Ellen "Vinnie" Ream Hoxie (September 25, 1847 – November 20, 1914) was an American sculptor. Her most famous work is the statue of U.S. President Abraham Lincoln in the United States Capitol rotunda. Ream's '' Statue of Sequoyah'' and ''Statue of Samuel J. Kirkwood'', both part of the National Statuary Hall collection. Other notable works by Ream include the '' Statue of David Farragut'' and the '' Bust of Edwin B. Hay'', which are also both located in Washington, D.C. Additionally, Ream created works which were displayed at The Woman's Building at the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. Rock Creek Cemetery is an cemetery with a natural and rolling landscape located at Rock Creek Church Road, NW, and Webster Street, NW, off Hawaii Avenue, NE, in the Petworth neighborhood of Washington, D.C., United States. Save Outdoor Sculpture!
Save Outdoor Sculpture! (SOS!) was a community-based effort to identify, document, and conserve outdoor sculpture in the United States. The program was initiated in 1989 and ended in 1999. History Save Outdoor Sculpture! was initiated by Heritage Preservation: The National Institute of Conservation in 1989. As of 1998, volunteers had cataloged and assessed the condition of over 30,000 outdoor statues and monuments. Roman Bronze Works, now operated as Roman Bronze Studios, is a bronze foundry in New York City. Established in 1897 by Riccardo Bertelli, it was the first American foundry to specialize in the lost-wax casting method, and was the country's pre-eminent art foundry during the American Renaissance (ca. 1876-1917). History Bertelli was a chemical engineer from Genoa who combined his skill in chemistry with his interest in art in starting a foundry. The foundry trademarked its namesake, Roman Bronze Works in 1900. In 1908, the foundry built a home and studio for sculptor Harry Merwin Shrady at White Plains, New York.
