Bushey, Hertfordshire
Bushey is a town in the Hertsmere borough of Hertfordshire in the East of England. It has a population of over 25,000 inhabitants. Bushey Heath is a large neighbourhood south east of Bushey on the boundary with the London Borough of Harrow reaching elevations of above sea level. History The first written record of Bushey is its entry in the Domesday Book of 1086, which describes a small agricultural village named 'Bissei' (which later became 'Biss(h)e' and then 'Bisheye' during the 12th century). However, chance archaeological findings of Stone Age tools provide evidence that the area was inhabited as far back as the Palaeolithic period. The town also has links to the Roman occupation of Britain, with the main road running through it being Roman; sites of possible Roman villas being unearthed in the area; and a Roman tessellated pavement was discovered near Chiltern Avenue. Bushy Park in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames is the second largest of London's Royal Parks, at in area, after Richmond Park. The park, most of which is open to the public, is immediately north of Hampton Court Palace and Hampton Court Park and is a few minutes' walk from the west side of Kingston Bridge. It is surrounded by Teddington, Hampton, Hampton Hill and Hampton Wick and is mainly within the post towns of Hampton and Teddington, those of East Molesey and Kingston upon Thames taking the remainder. In September 2014, most of it was designated a biological Site of Special Scientific Interest together with Hampton Court Park and Hampton Court Golf Course as ''Bushy Park and Home Park SSSI''. Bushy Park Circuit is a motorsport race track in the parish of Saint Philip, Barbados, St. Philip, Barbados. The circuit features a List of motor racing circuits by FIA Grade, FIA Grade 4 course and a CIK Grade 1 course. History The original race track was built in 1971 by sugar cane plantation workers as a circuit. The circuit became a hub for racing in the Caribbean over the next three decades, however had fallen into disrepair by the mid-2000s. Local rally driver Ralph Williams coerced the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, FIA and Apex Circuit Design into supporting the circuit's redevelopment, a cause that was boosted by the large crowds witnessed at the local touring car event which delegates chose to attend. Bushy Park, Glenwood Maryland
Bushy Park is a historic slave plantation located at Glenwood, Howard County, Maryland, United States. It is located on a 3,940 acre land patent named "Ridgley's Great Park". Bushy park is known as the home of Charles Alexander Warfield. Warfield married Elizabeth Ridgley of Laurel in 1771 and settled in a log home at "Bushy Park". The same year he started construction on his slave plantation manor home. On 19 October 1774, Warfield and his neighbors travelled to Annapolis and burned the '' Peggy Stewart'' in retaliation to sanctions on Americans following the Boston Tea Party. Paintings of the incident are displayed in the State House at Annapolis and the Court House at Baltimore. In 1866, Charles D. Warfeild sold the 270-acre and 160-acre Bushy Park tracts containing an eight-room stone and frame house, including two tenant houses, blacksmith shop, 250-tree apple orchard and 73-tree peach orchard. Bushy Park Wetlands is a conservation park in Glen Waverley, Victoria, Australia. On the edge of suburbia, it is bounded by Dandenong Creek and houses along King Arthur Drive and Knights Drive. There is a cycling and walking path, and a bird watching hide, where egrets, pelicans, coots, dusky moorhen, ibis and occasionally spoonbill can be observed. It is accessible from the end of Highbury Road, or at the Drummies Bridge Reserve off High Street Road. It is also connected by the Dandenong Creek Trail to Shepherds Bush Park, Koomba Park and Napier Park. History The name "Bushy Park" dates from the 1840s, when it was used for grazing cattle, but has referred to various locations in the vicinity, including what is now Jells Park. Bushy Park () is a large, , suburban Urban park, public park in Terenure, Dublin, Ireland. Location Although situated mainly in Terenure, and listed by the city council with that address, it stretches to the borders of Rathfarnham and Templeogue. It is across the road from Terenure College boys' school and has several entrances. The River Dodder passes alongside it, within the Dodder Valley Linear Park, and the high wall of Bushy Park has several access points to the riverside. Attractions and activities There is a children's playground, an extensive wooded area, with walks to the banks of the Dodder (with access over a footbridge to the Rathfarnham area), a woodland pond, a duck pond, and a recently reopened kiosk. In front of the duck pond is a high hill, and east of the pond is a starting point for the woodland walk, beside a small cascade.
