Pharaoh is an American power metal band. Band history The band was formed in 1997 in Pennsylvania by four American musicians but the musical roots of Pharaoh come from European power metal acts. Featuring Tim Aymar, who is best known for his vocals on Control Denied, Chris Kerns on bass, Matt Johnsen on guitar and Chris Black on drums, they released their debut ''After the Fire'' in 2003. The band is known for multi-layered instrumentation and well produced albums. Power metal is a subgenre of heavy metal combining characteristics of traditional heavy metal with speed metal, often within symphonic context. Generally, power metal is characterized by a faster, lighter, and more uplifting sound, in contrast with the heaviness and dissonance prevalent, for example, in extreme metal. King Diamond
Kim Bendix Petersen (born 14 June 1956), better known by his stage name King Diamond, is a Danish rock musician. As a vocalist, he is known for his powerful and wide-ranging countertenor singing voice, in particular his far-reaching falsetto screams. He is the lead vocalist and lyricist for both Mercyful Fate and the eponymous King Diamond. He also plays keyboards and guitars on studio recordings but uses live shows to focus solely on his vocal performance. Diamond is renowned for his dark lyrical content and his story concepts. He is also known for his distinctive shock stage persona (in particular his black and white facepaint). Timothy L. Aymar (born September 4, 1963) is an American heavy metal singer. He is best known as the vocalist of progressive metal band Pharaoh and for his work with Chuck Schuldiner in Control Denied. Career Often known for his strong vocals on Chuck Schuldiner's Control Denied band but his music career as a vocalist started years before that. He's been a vocalist since 1985 with the band 313, then he joined Triple x and released an album with them. Then he joined Psych Scream, where his bandmate Jim Dofka introduce him to the music of Chuck Schuldiner and his band Death. Schuldiner heard Aymar's voice on Psycho Scream and contacted him through his bandmate Jim Dofka. After a three-song audition, he joined Schuldiner's new band Control Denied as the vocalist. Pharaoh (, ; Egyptian: ''pr ꜥꜣ''; cop, , Pǝrro; Biblical Hebrew: ''Parʿō'') is the vernacular term often used for the monarchs of ancient Egypt, who ruled from the First Dynasty () until the annexation of Egypt by the Roman Empire in 30 BCE. However, regardless of gender, "king" was the term used most frequently by the ancient Egyptians for their monarchs through the middle of the Eighteenth Dynasty during the New Kingdom.
