Burshtin (Hasidic Dynasty)
Burshtin is a Hasidic dynasty headed by Grand Rabbi David Eichenstein, the Burshteiner Rebbe. The main Burshteiner synagogue is located in Borough Park, Brooklyn. The group originated in Burshtyn, now located in Ukraine, but was once part of Austria-Hungary. The Grand Rebbe is a scion of many great rabbinical dynasties, including Zidichov and Stretin. He has authored several books of Hasidic lore. He is a disciple of Grand Rabbi Joel Teitelbaum of Satmar. His brother, Grand Rabbi Isaac Menachem Eichenstein, is the Galanter Rebbe of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. His son, Rabbi Zeideleh has, in recent years, been functioning as a "Rebbe in Waiting" offering auxiliary and complementing Rebbe services alongside the Grand Rebbe. Ellen Burstyn (born Edna Rae Gillooly; December 7, 1932) is an American actress. Gunther Adolf Burstyn (6 July 1879 in Bad Aussee, Steiermark – 15 April 1945 in Korneuburg, Lower Austria) was an inventor, technician, and officer of the Austro-Hungarian Army. He is best known for his ''Motorgeschütz'', the first detailed concept of a modern tank. Personal life Burstyn's father Adolf Burstyn came from a Jewish family in Lviv, but Burstyn converted to Catholicism along with his spouse Juliane ( Hoffman). Joseph Burstyn (born Jossel Lejba Bursztyn; December 15, 1899 – November 29, 1953) was a Polish-American film distributor who specialized in the commercial release of foreign-language and American independent film productions. Igal Bursztyn (born May 27, 1941) is an Israeli film director, writer, producer and adjunct full professor at the Tel Aviv University Film and TV Department. Biography Bursztyn was born in Manchester, England, his parents were born in Poland. In 1949, his family returned to Warsaw and in 1957 they immigrated to Israel. His father was a scientist at the Weizmann Institute of Science (Chemistry, Polymer Department), his mother worked there as a librarian. Feliza Bursztyn (8 September 1933 – 8 January 1982) was a Colombian sculptor. Biography Feliza Bursztyn was born in Bogotá, Colombia in 1933 to Polish Jewish immigrants. Her parents had just been visiting Bogotá at the time of her birth in 1933. When they received news of Adolf Hitler's election to the German Chancellorship, they decided to remain in Colombia, where her father founded a small textile factory. Burshtyn ( uk, Буршти́н, translit=Burshtyn) is a city located in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, in western Ukraine, to the north of Halych. It is accessible by rail. Burshtyn hosts the administration of Burshtyn urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. Population: It developed rapidly and significantly grew in population during the Soviet period. Burshtyn TES is a coal-fired power plant of Zakhidenergo located in Ivano-Frankivsk Raion south-east from Burshtyn, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, Ukraine. It is part of Rinat Akhmetov's holdings. It was struck by four Russian missiles on 10th of October 2022, amidst massive rocket shelling on Ukraine. The plant has two chimneys which were built in 1966 are also used as high-voltage pylon.
