Burn (Hamilton Song)
"Burn" is the fifteenth song from Act 2 of the musical ''Hamilton (musical), Hamilton'', based on the life of Alexander Hamilton, which premiered on Broadway theatre, Broadway in 2015. Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote both the music and lyrics to the song. The song is sung by the character Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton, Eliza Hamilton, originally performed by Phillipa Soo. Background As Ron Chernow describes in his biography ''Alexander Hamilton'', for which the show was based, "Eliza Schuyler Hamilton, Eliza Hamilton was a modest, self-effacing woman who apparently destroyed her own letters and tried to expunge her presence from the history books." The song draws on Lin-Manuel Miranda's interpretation of Chernow's assumption that Eliza destroyed some of her correspondence with her husband. Phillipa Soo
Phillipa Anne Soo (born May 31, 1990) is an American actress and singer. Soo gained prominence for originating the role of Eliza Hamilton in the Broadway musical ''Hamilton''. She earned nominations for the 2016 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical and a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album that same year. Her performance was captured in the Disney+ live stage recording of ''Hamilton'' which was released in 2020 for which she earned a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie. Angelica Schuyler Church
Angelica Church (née Schuyler ; February 20, 1756 – March 6, 1814) was an American socialite.
