Aaron Buff
Aaron Buff (August 31, 1911 – January 11, 1994) was a state-acclaimed chair-maker who specialized in making slatback chairs with woven oak-spit seats, children's chairs and highchairs. His chairs have been purchased by the North Carolina Museum of History, and are also displayed at Hart Square in Hickory, North Carolina. Buff was the recipient of the North Carolina Heritage Award presented by the North Carolina Arts Council in 1994 before his death. Charlotte Buff
Charlotte Buff (11 January 1753, Wetzlar – 16 January 1828, Hanover) was a youthful acquaintance of the poet Goethe, who fell in love with her. She rejected him and instead married Johann Christian Kestner, vice-archivist and privy councillor to the Hanoverian court. Conrad Buff II
Mary Buff (April 10, 1890 – 1970) and Conrad Buff II (August 31, 1886 – March 11, 1975) were married creators of illustrated children's books. Between 1937 and 1968, they collaborated on both text and illustrations to produce 14 books; four times they were a runner-up for the Caldecott Medal or Newbery Medal. Conrad Buff IV (born July 8, 1948) is an American film editor with more than 25 film credits since 1985. Buff is known for winning an Academy Award for Best Film Editing and an ACE Eddie Award for ''Titanic'' (1997); the awards were shared with his co-editors James Cameron and Richard A. Harris. He won the 2000 Satellite Award for Best Editing for '' Thirteen Days''. Evelyn Buff-Segal (1913 – 2000) was an abstract expressionist painter who lived and worked in Rochester, New York. Early life Evelyn E. Buff was born as a twin in 1915, in Lowville, Lewis County, New York to Fannie (née Landsman) and Louis R. Buff. Originally a student of architect Fritz Traut, she began studying under Vanclive Vitleture after meeting him during a visit to Martha's Vineyard in the late 1940s. He encouraged her to move to NYC and attend the prestigious Arts Students League on 57th Street, where she met Robert Rauschenberg. In a 1975 interview for the Rochester Oral History Project, Buff-Segal recalls that Robert Rauschenberg "had the easel to my right." and that among her other classmates at the time were both Paul Jenkins and Robert Cartwright.
