Bucketheadland
Bucketheadland is the debut studio album by American guitarist and songwriter Buckethead. It was released on John Zornʼs Japanese record label, Avant, in 1992. It features several samples of the 1960s Japanese television series, '' Giant Robot'', amongst guitar riffs and several fast, technical solos. The concept of the album is a tour around the construction of Bucketheadʼs fictional amusement park, “Bucketheadland”. Because of this, the album is divided into sections that relate to distinct areas of the park. A sequel was released in 2003, simply titled ''Bucketheadland 2''. He has received critical acclaim for his innovative electric guitar playing. His music spans several genres, including progressive metal, funk, blues, bluegrass, ambient, and avant-garde music. He performs primarily as a solo artist, although he has collaborated with a wide variety of artists such as Bill Laswell, Bootsy Collins, Bernie Worrell, Iggy Pop, Les Claypool, Serj Tankian, Bill Moseley, Mike Patton, Viggo Mortensen, That 1 Guy, Bassnectar, and Skating Polly. Giant Robot (Buckethead Album)
''Giant Robot'' is the second studio album by avant-garde guitarist Buckethead (not to be confused with the 1996 ''Giant Robot'', also featuring Buckethead) and loosely following the same "amusement park" concept as his previous album ''( Bucketheadland)''. It has some re-recorded songs from Buckethead's band Deli Creeps, as well his earlier demo tape ''Bucketheadland Blueprints''. ''Giant Robot'' has a more professional sound than its predecessor in terms of recording and production value; the re-recorded tracks have lost their initial "basement" or "video game" sounding beats and guitar licks. As with ''Bucketheadland'', the album was originally only released in Japan. Unlike later Buckethead solo albums, the Bill Laswell-produced ''Giant Robot'' contains many vocal contributions from guests such as Iggy Pop, Bill Moseley, Throatrake and Julian Schnabel's kids Stella and Vito. Avant Records
Avant Records was a record label in Japan that specialized in avant-garde jazz, avant rock, and experimental music. The label released more than 80 albums between 1992 and 2004. History New York saxophonist John Zorn was signed to Nonesuch, but his band Naked City recorded music that required a different label. He started Avant in 1992 as a division of DIW/Disk Union in Japan and produced its first albums. The label's roster included Derek Bailey, Duck Baker, Cyro Baptista, Joey Baron, Steve Beresford, Anthony Coleman, Sylvie Courvoisier, Dave Douglas, Mark Feldman, Erik Friedlander, Wayne Horvitz, Joe Maneri, Misha Mengelberg, William Parker, Bobby Previte, and Min Xiao-Fen. Howie Weinberg is an American audio mastering engineer with over 2,257 mastering credits, three TEC Awards, 21 Grammy Awards, two Juno Awards, and one Mercury Prize. Career Weinberg mastered Herbie Hancock's 1983 album ''Future Shock''. Other mastering works include the Beastie Boys' ''Licensed to Ill'' and Nirvana's ''Nevermind''. Weinberg began working in the mail room at Masterdisk in 1979, delivering recording tapes in New York City. Mastering engineer Bob Ludwig acted as his mentor. In January 2011, he left Masterdisk to set up his own mastering company in Los Angeles, Howie Weinberg Mastering, which appeared in ''Voyage LA''s "Most Inspiring Stories" on February 11, 2021. Robert Barnum, better known under his stage name Maximum Bob, is an American musician known for his work as the lead singer and founding member of rock band Deli Creeps and for his singing on various releases related to avant-garde guitarist Buckethead. He is now the lead singer in Maximum Bob's Stockyard Skinners. Music career Maximum Bob and his friend, guitarist Buckethead started a musical collaboration in 1987 that would eventually take the name Deli Creeps.
