Brutus (1911 Film)
''Brutus'' is a 1911 Italian silent historical film directed by Enrico Guazzoni and starring Amleto Novelli. The film portrays the life of Marcus Junius Brutus the Younger, one of the assassins of Julius Caesar. The film was moderately successful, but not on the scale of his ''Quo Vadis ''Quō vādis?'' (, ) is a Latin phrase meaning "Where are you marching?". It is also commonly translated as "Where are you going?" or, poetically, "Whither goest thou?" Enrico Guazzoni (18 December 1876 – 23 September 1949) Birth name Enrico Guazzone. Additionally, document states in lower right, "è morte in Roma in 23-9-49 / died in Rome 23 September 1949". was an Italian screenwriter and film director. Guazzoni was the uncle of Jolanda Kodra, an Italian-Albanian writer and translator. Filoteo Alberini (14 March 1865 – 12 April 1937) was an Italian inventor, movie director, and one of the earliest pioneers of cinema. Biography Born in Orte, he began working as a handyman in his native town and, after completing the compulsory military service at the Military Engineers Department, he was hired at the Military Geographical Institute of Florence. In 1894, inspired by Thomas Edison's kinetoscope (a "peepshow" machine which allowed to see moving frames through a lens), he patented his "kinetograph", a shooting and projecting device which could show moving images to multiple people simultaneously not unlike that of the Lumière brothers. Alberini built the kinetograph one year before the cinématograph invented by the Lumière brothers who, in turn, borrowed and expanded the idea for such a device from Léon Bouly.
