Bruce Sterling (Love Of Life)
Bruce Sterling was a fictional character in the now-cancelled American soap opera, ''Love of Life''. He was played by actor Ron Tomme from 1959 to the show's demise in 1980. Van's soulmate Bruce was the second husband of heroine Vanessa Dale. He was a teacher at Winfield Academy, a private boys' school in the fictional upstate New York community of Rosehill. Bruce met Van through a mutual friend of theirs named Tom Craythorne, a New York City lawyer, who had befriended Van after she helped him foil a paternity suit that her malevolent sister, Meg, foisted on him. ''Love of Life'' is an American soap opera televised on CBS from September 24, 1951, to February 1, 1980. It was created by Roy Winsor, whose previous creation ''Search for Tomorrow'' premiered three weeks before ''Love of Life''; he created ''The Secret Storm'' two and a half years later. Production ''Love of Life'' originally came from Liederkranz Hall on East 58th Street in Manhattan. Mike and Buff (Mike Wallace), Ernie Kovacs, and ''Douglas Edwards and the News'', as well as ''Search for Tomorrow'' and ''The Guiding Light'' also came from that location. The program originated at other studios in Manhattan, but primarily at the CBS Broadcast Center on West 57th Street and CBS' Studio 52 behind the Ed Sullivan Theater. Vanessa Dale
Vanessa "Van" Dale Raven Sterling, was the main character and the lead heroine in the now-defunct American soap opera ''Love of Life''. She was originally played by Peggy McCay (1951-1955); then by actress Bonnie Bartlett (1955-1959) and Audrey Peters played Vanessa to the show's end. The Good Sister Vanessa, or "Van" as she was more commonly called, was the older of the two daughters born to Will and Sarah Dale in the fictional community of Barrowsville, New York. Barbara Barrie (born Barbara Ann Berman; May 23, 1931) is an American actress and author. Rick Latimer was a fictional character on the now cancelled American soap opera '' Love of Life''. The role was originated by Paul Savior, but actor Jerry Lacy is best known in the role. Catalyst Rick was the maverick son of corporate swindler, Guy Latimer (John Straub). Audrey Peters (February 11, 1927 - August 2, 2019) was an American actress. Career Peters was best known for her 21-year run as Vanessa Dale, Vanessa Dale Sterling on the CBS daytime soap opera ''Love of Life''. Peters was the third actress to play the role (after daytime veteran Peggy McCay and actress Bonnie Bartlett), but she became the actress most identified with the role. Her run as Vanessa ended when the show was cancelled in 1980. Seven years later, she was cast as Sarah Shayne, the mother of Reva Shayne, on another CBS soap, ''Guiding Light''. Peters was on contract with the show for four years, and returned for Christmas episodes in 1993.
