Bruce MacDonald (public Servant)
Bruce MacDonald is a former senior Australian public servant best known for his time as Secretary of the Department of Sport, Recreation and Tourism. Biography From 1971 to 1977, MacDonald was Secretary of the Public Service Board. In 1983, he was appointed as permanent head of the new Department of Sport, Recreation and Tourism. In 1986, MacDonald was said to have been tipped by insiders for the position of Commonwealth Ombudsman, but media reported that opposition was strong to any appointment of a bureaucrat to the position, and MacDonald stayed in his Secretary position. MacDonald was moved in 1987 instead for a senior position in the Data Protection Agency. Life and career Hayes was appointed to the position of Secretary of the Department of Business and Consumer Affairs starting in March 1982. Tony Blunn
Anthony Stuart "Tony" Blunn (born 1936) is a retired Australian senior public servant. Life and career Tony Blunn was born in 1936. He joined the Australian Public Service at the age of 21, after four years with a firm of solicitors in Melbourne. In 1979 Blunn took a position in the Department of Finance, in an area linked with works, mainland Territories, defence and other areas. He moved to the Department of Business and Consumer Affairs in 1980, and was appointed to his first permanent Secretary role in 1981 as head of the Department of the Capital Territory. Blunn was appointed Secretary of the Attorney General's Department in 1998, replacing Stephen Skehill who resigned from the role. Blunn retired from the public service in December 1999. Patrick John Galvin (born 17 March 1933) is a retired senior Australian public servant. He was Secretary of the Department of Arts, Heritage and Environment between 1984 and 1987. Life and career Galvin was born in Adelaide, South Australia, on 17 March 1933. His father, also called Pat Galvin, was an Australian Labor Party member of the House of Representatives. Galvin joined the Australian Public Service in 1950, with a personnel cadetship that enabled him to obtain an arts degree from the University of Adelaide. Whilst working in the Department of External Territories, Galvin served in Papua New Guinea. In 1982, Galvin was appointed as a Deputy Secretary in the Department of Home Affairs and Environment.
