"Broken Heart" is the first single from Motion City Soundtrack's 2007 album '' Even If It Kills Me''. It was released on June 26, 2007 through most digital outlets. It was also released physically and exclusively in Japan on July 18, 2007. A video for the single was released a few days prior. Music video The song's music video was directed by Jesse Cain, brother of the band's guitarist Joshua Cain, and stars Nels Lennes, who also appears in the video for "L.G. FUAD" as well as Justin Pierre's short film "Karen". It was filmed in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The video starts out with a door being shut on a man whose girlfriend and he likely just had a bitter breakup. The man reaches into a hole in his chest and pulls out his heart, dropping it on the ground and walking away. The heart reappears as another man in a heart costume. He walks around, depressed. Motion City Soundtrack is an American rock band that formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1997. The band's line-up consists of vocalist and guitarist Justin Courtney Pierre, lead guitarist Joshua Cain, keyboardist Jesse Johnson, bassist Matthew Taylor, and drummer Tony Thaxton. Over the course of their career, the group has toured heavily and released six studio albums, the majority on independent label Epitaph Records. Joshua Allen Cain, (born July 31, 1976) is a guitarist and record producer from Saint Paul, Minnesota. He was the co-founder and lead guitarist of United States, American pop punk band Motion City Soundtrack. Cain is also a record producer, music producer with multiple past projects; comprising an Extended play, EP for Epitaph-signed band Sing It Loud and two songs (including the lead single) from Metro Station (band), Metro Station's Metro Station (album), debut album. History Joshua Cain played in numerous bands before joining the much more successful Motion City Soundtrack. Prior to Motion City he had roles in bands Superette, Saddest Girl Story, and Boxcar. Justin Courtney Pierre (born May 26, 1976) is a singer, songwriter and guitarist originally from Mahtomedi, Minnesota, United States. He is the co-founder and lead vocalist of the pop punk band Motion City Soundtrack, and is known for his interests and pursuits in film making and production of music. Biography Early life Justin Pierre was raised in Mahtomedi, Minnesota. During his childhood, he enjoyed skateboarding and listening to hip-hop such as Run-DMC and the Beastie Boys. "The Future Freaks Me Out" was released to radio on September 16, 2003.
