British Academy Children's Award For Animation
The British Academy Children and Young People Award for Animation is an award presented annually by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). It is given to "animated content for children and young people six and over". It was first awarded at the 1st edition of the British Academy Children's Awards in 1996, with Welsh claymation-style series ''Gogs'' being the first recipient of the award. Cartoon Network series ''The Amazing World of Gumball'' holds the record of most wins in the category with four, followed by ''Shaun the Sheep'' with two. The two shows are the only programs to win the award more than once. Earthworm Jim (TV Series)
''Earthworm Jim'' is an American animated television series based on the video game series of the same name and created by series creator, Doug TenNapel. The series aired on the Kids' WB for two seasons from September 9, 1995, to December 13, 1996. It follows the adventures of the titular character who battles the forces of evil using a robotic suit. Premise Most episodes involve the series' numerous villains attempting to reclaim the super suit or conquer the universe. Other issues facing Jim include returning his neighbor's eggbeater and finding a new power source after his suit's battery runs out. Also, the show breaks the fourth wall with characters often talking to the audience and the narrator. Episodes begin with a cold opening of Earthworm Jim and Peter Puppy in some peril that has nothing to do with the main plot or the past episodes, with little statement of how they got into the mess. Jackie Cockle (born 1950) is a British stop motion animation specialist, best known as the co-founder of the HOT Animation studio, which specializes in stop motion animation. She is the creator and creative producer of the pre-school animation Timmy Time, creative producer of Bob the Builder and Brambly Hedge, director of The Wind in the Willows and more. ''The Treacle People'' is a stop motion animated children's television programme shown on CITV in the United Kingdom from 3 May 1996 to 25 July 1997 and was reran on Channel 4 in the 2000s. It had two series, each with 13 episodes. In a similar vein to other shows by the same writer, the humour worked on two levels for younger and older viewers. John Coates (producer)
John Coates (7 November 1927 – 16 September 2012) was a British film producer, best known for producing the animated film ''The Snowman'' based on the picture book by Raymond Briggs, one of the first animated productions screened on Channel Four and still repeated every year on the channel. He co-founded the animation studio TVC (Television Cartoons) London with George Dunning in 1957 and worked on The Beatles's animated feature '' Yellow Submarine'' and produced numerous other animated films including '' When the Wind Blows'', ''Granpa'', ''Father Christmas'', ''The World of Peter Rabbit and Friends'' and '' The Bear''. John's business partner for many years was Norman David Kauffman, who first worked with him at the age of 16 as a trainee animator.
