Brian Wood (born January 29, 1972) is an American writer, illustrator, and graphic designer, known for his work in comic books, television and video games. His noted comic book work includes the series ''DMZ'', ''Demo'', ''Northlanders'', '' The Massive, Marvel Comics' The X-Men'', and ''Star Wars.'' Brian Thomas Wood (8 December 1940 – 5 July 2014) was an English footballer who played as a central defender. Career Born in Hamworthy, Wood made a total of 476 appearances in The Football League for West Bromwich Albion, Crystal Palace, Leyton Orient, Colchester United and Workington. After leaving Workington, he became a scout for Preston North End, a job he combined with managing the Willis Faber and Dumas sports club in Ipswich. After suffering dementia and Parkinson's disease, Wood died in a care home in Saxtead, Suffolk on 5 July 2014. Brian Wood (born 1948) is a visual artist working in painting, drawing and printmaking and formerly with photography and film in upstate New York and New York City. Biography Brian Wood was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada and grew up on a family farm in northern Saskatchewan (Brancepeth). He received a B.A. from the University of Saskatchewan in 1969 in physics and literature. Shortly after receiving his degree he moved to New York City and made paintings. Early career During the next few years, he traveled and worked in Europe, spending much of his time in Greece. Wood made his first painting commission for Lord Byron's Chambers in The Albany in London in 1972 and exhibited his prints at Redfern Gallery, London. Returning to New York, Wood earned his M.A. with concentrations in painting and filmmaking in 1975 at Hunter College. Brian Wood is an American journalist. He has spent most of his career working for news outlets in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. Early life Wood grew up in Bellevue, Washington, and attended Interlake High School, before graduating from the University of Washington with an honors degree in Political Science and Communications. Journalism career He shared the 1992 Peabody Award for reporting the documentary ''When the Salmon Runs Dry'' which explored the causes and effects of the declining population of wild salmon in the Columbia River system. His work during the 1998 Olympics in Nagano, Japan was featured in ''The Seattle Times''. Colour Sergeant Brian Wood (born 8 November 1980) is a former soldier in the Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment who was awarded the Military Cross for gallantry in the Battle of Danny Boy. Military service Wood served for 17 years in the British Army with the Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment. During his service in Iraq, he led the first bayonet charge in 25 years. For his gallantry in leading the bayonet charge in the Battle of Danny Boy, and taking control of the situation during the ambush of his unit, he was awarded the Military Cross. Falsified allegations of war crime After coming back from Iraq in 2004, Wood was informed that there were allegations against himself and his regiment from the Iraq Historic Abuse Team.
