Brian Roberts (English Footballer)
Brian Leslie Ford Roberts (born 6 November 1955), commonly known by his nickname Harry Roberts, is an English former professional footballer who played as a defender. He made more than 400 appearances in the Football League for Coventry City, Hereford United, Birmingham City and Wolverhampton Wanderers. After ten years as a professional at Coventry City he joined Birmingham City for a fee of £10,000 raised through a supporters' "Buy a Player Fund". He won the club's Player of the Year award for 1989. Nicknamed "Harry" after the 1960s police-killer Harry Roberts, he published an autobiography entitled ''Harry's Game''. He went on to coach at Coventry City before becoming head of sport at a private school in Leamington Spa. Royal Leamington Spa, commonly known as Leamington Spa or simply Leamington (), is a spa town and civil parish in Warwickshire, England. Originally a small village called Leamington Priors, it grew into a spa town in the 18th century following the popularisation of its water which was reputed to have medicinal qualities. In the 19th century, the town experienced one of the most rapid expansions in England. It is named after the River Leam, which flows through the town. Harry Roberts (murderer)
Harry Maurice Roberts (born 21 July 1936) is an English career criminal and murderer who in 1966 instigated the Shepherd's Bush murders, in which three police officers were shot dead in London. The murders took place after plainclothes officers approached a Standard Vanguard estate car, in which Roberts and two other men were sitting in Braybrook Street near Wormwood Scrubs prison in London. Roberts feared the officers would discover firearms his gang were planning to use in a robbery. He killed two, while one of his accomplices shot dead the third. After Roberts had spent nearly 48 years in prison, in 2014 the Parole Board for England and Wales approved his release, at the age of 78. Having far exceeded his minimum term of 30 years, he was one of the United Kingdom's longest-serving prisoners, having remained in custody since 1966. The Football League
The English Football League (EFL) is a league of professional football clubs from England and Wales. Founded in 1888 as the Football League, the league is the oldest such competition in the world. It was the top-level football league in England from its foundation until 1992, when the top 22 clubs split from it to form the Premier League.
