Brian Lewis, 2nd Baron Essendon
Brian Edmund Lewis, 2nd Baron Essendon (7 December 1903 – 18 July 1978), also known as ''Bug'', was a British motor-racing driver, company director, baronet, and peer. Born in Edmonton, Middlesex, he was the only son of the first Lord Essendon, the shipping magnate, by his wife Eleanor (d. 1967), daughter of R. H. Harrison of West Hartlepool. In 1938, he married Mary Duffil, widow of Albert Duffil, daughter of G. W. Booker of Los Angeles. Educated at Malvern, and Pembroke College, Cambridge, he was a Director of Furness Withy (the family shipping firm), Barry Aikman Travel Ltd and Godfrey Davis & Co Ltd. He raced Frazer Nashes in England in the 1920s and entered a private Maserati 8CM at the Swiss Grand Prix 1935. Brian Lewis (architect)
Brian Bannatyne Lewis (20 September 1906- 23 August 1991) was Professor of Architecture at the University of Melbourne. He was born in Lottah, Tasmania, the son of James Bannatyne Lewis and Edith Augusta Haynes. Lewis attended school at Wesley College, Melbourne. and then studied architecture at the University of Melbourne where he gained his Diploma in Architecture in 1928. In 1928 he moved to Britain and studied at the Liverpool School of Architecture where he won the Honan Scholarship in 1929 and the Victory scholarships in 1930 and 1931. In the early 1930s he moved to London and was employed by the Great Western Railway. In 1940 he enlisted in the Australian armed forces in London. After a period in the Middle East and Australia, he returned to Britain in October 1942 as Assistant Chief Architect to the Great Western Railway, becoming Chief Architect in 1945 on the retirement of Percy Emerson Culverhouse, He resigned in 1947. Brian Lewis (26 January 1943 – 14 December 1998) was an English footballer, most noted as a player for Portsmouth, Luton Town and Colchester United. Career Lewis started out with Crystal Palace, but after only three years as a professional he moved to the club he supported, Portsmouth. After four years with Portsmouth, he moved on to first Coventry City, in 1967, and then Luton Town, in 1968. In 1970, he signed for Oxford United, but within the year he was on the move again, joining Colchester United. While at Colchester he took part in one of the great FA Cup giant-killings, when Fourth Division Colchester took on Leeds United in the fifth round in 1970–71. Brian M. Lewis (born December 5, 1974) is an American athlete, winner of gold medal in 4 × 100 m relay at the 2000 Summer Olympics. Born in Sacramento, California, Brian Lewis played baseball (his father and uncle had played professional baseball) through his ninth grade, but moved then to athletics, because he did not want his father to coach him. Lewis graduated from Highlands High School in 1993. Lewis was the member of American 4 × 100 m relay team, that did not finish its heat at the 1997 World Championships. At the 1998 Goodwill Games, Lewis was third in 100 m. In 1999, Lewis won the US National Championships in 100 m and ran the third leg on the American 4 × 100 m relay team, which won the gold medal at the World Championships and also reached the semifinals of 100 m. Bryan Lewis (born September 10, 1942) is a Canadian municipal politician and a former referee and Director of Officiating for the National Hockey League. Lewis was born in Alliston, Ontario. His first NHL experience was in the 1967-68 NHL season. He worked more than 1000 games, 30 playoff games, and nine Stanley Cup Finals at the NHL level, and was named Director of Officiating in 1989, following the sudden death of his predecessor, John McCauley.
