Brian Buckley (footballer, Born 1935)
Brian Alan Buckley (3 August 1935 – 2 August 2014) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Family He was the son of Fitzroy footballer Jack Buckley. His brother, John Buckley, played with Coburg in the VFA. He married Beverley Love. They had three children: a daughter, Sharyn, and two sons, Mark and Stephen, each of whom later played at Carlton. Football Carlton (VFL) Recruited from Coburg as a 16-year-old, Buckley began his career in the Carlton under-19s in 1951. He made his debut with the First XVII on 4 August 1956 – in place of the selected back pocket, Vin English – in the round 16 match against Collingwood, which Carlton won 12.12 (84) to 9.17 (71). Although he came to Carlton as a ruckman, he spent much of his time either in the back pocket or at full back. Coburg Football Club
The Coburg Football Club, nicknamed the Coburg Lions, is an Australian rules football club based in Coburg, a northern suburb of Melbourne, and currently playing in the Victorian Football League (VFL). It is based at Coburg City Oval since 1915, which was partly redeveloped in 2020. Coburg has historically been a proud club and has won 6 VFA/VFL premierships with the most recent premiership in 1989. Bryan Quirk
Bryan Quirk (born 26 December 1946) is a former Australian rules footballer in the Victorian Football League. He was recruited from Morwell Football Club in the then Latrobe Valley Football League. He was Collingwood fan as a child. Quirk made his debut for the Carlton Football Club in Round 3, 1965. He kicked 3 goals on debut and was a forward pocket he had to retire in 1975 due to injury. At the age of 29 after eleven years with the club. After his retirement from playing, he spent many years as a coach. He coached Maryborough in 1976 and 1977. He returned to Carlton in 1978 and coached its Under-19s to back-to-back premierships in 1978 and 1979 (assisted by Brian Buckley), and later coached the Carlton reserves for three seasons. The 1968 Victorian Football Association season was the 87th season of the top division of the Australian rules football competition, and the eighth season of second division competition. The Division 1 premiership was won by the Preston Football Club, after it defeated Prahran in the Grand Final on 22 September by 14 points; it was Preston's first Division 1 premiership. The Division 2 premiership was won by Geelong West. Division 1 The Division 1 home-and-home season was played over 18 rounds; the top four then contested the finals under the Page–McIntyre system. Alan Morrow
Alan G. Morrow (born 29 November 1936) is a former Australian rules footballer in the VFL. A hard working tough ruckman who took on a ruck role when Carl Ditterich missed the 1966 Grand Final due to suspension. St Kilda controversially recruited Morrow and Bill Stephenson from Sale, illegally offering money. Morrow was injured early in the 1965 Grand Final, the favoured Saints losing the match in part due to missing Morrow. The Grand Final win in 1966 was his last VFL game. Dandenong Football Club was an Australian rules football club which played in the Victorian Football Association (VFA). Based in the Melbourne suburb of Dandenong, the Redlegs wore navy blue and red as their club colours. Club history From 1953 to 1957 the club played in the Federal Football League. The 1967 VFA Division 1 Grand Final was an Australian rules football match played between the Dandenong Redlegs and the Port Melbourne Borough. The match was held on Sunday 24 September 1967 at the Punt Road Oval in Jolimont, Melbourne, to decide the Division 1 Premiership for the 1967 Victorian Football Association season. Lawrence Sidney Mithen (15 April 1934 – 2 February 2022) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Melbourne in the VFL during their successful period in the late 1950s under Norm Smith.
