Brandes' Algorithm
In network theory, Brandes' algorithm is an algorithm for calculating the betweenness centrality of vertices in a graph. The algorithm was first published in 2001 by Ulrik Brandes. Betweenness centrality, along with other measures of centrality, is an important measure in many real-world networks, such as social networks and computer networks. Definitions There are several metrics for the centrality of a node, one such metric being the ''betweenness centrality''. For a node v in a connected graph, the betweenness centrality is defined as:C_B(v)= \sum_ \sum_ \fracwhere \sigma_ is the total number of shortest paths from node s to node t, and \sigma_(v) is the number of these paths which pass through v. For an unweighted graph, the length of a path is considered to be the number of edges it contains. By convention, \sigma_ = 1 whenever s=t, since the only path is the empty path. In graph theory and network analysis, indicators of centrality assign numbers or rankings to nodes within a graph corresponding to their network position. Dijkstra's Algorithm
Dijkstra's algorithm ( ) is an algorithm for finding the shortest paths between nodes in a weighted graph, which may represent, for example, a road network. It was conceived by computer scientist Edsger W. Dijkstra in 1956 and published three years later. Dijkstra's algorithm finds the shortest path from a given source node to every other node. It can be used to find the shortest path to a specific destination node, by terminating the algorithm after determining the shortest path to the destination node. For example, if the nodes of the graph represent cities, and the costs of edges represent the distances between pairs of cities connected by a direct road, then Dijkstra's algorithm can be used to find the shortest route between one city and all other cities.
