Ricky Skaggs
Rickie Lee Skaggs (born July 18, 1954), known professionally as Ricky Skaggs, is an American neotraditional country and bluegrass singer, musician, producer, and composer. He primarily plays mandolin; however, he also plays fiddle, guitar, mandocaster, and banjo. Skaggs was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2016 and the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2018. On January 13, 2021, it was announced Skaggs had been awarded the National Medal of Arts by President Donald Trump, alongside fellow country musician Toby Keith. Biography Early career Skaggs was born in Cordell, Kentucky. He started playing music at age 5 after he was given a mandolin by his father, Hobert Skaggs. Darrell DeShawn Camp (born August 29, 1966) is an American musician who performs country and Americana music. Originally signed to Reprise Records in 1993 as a recording artist, Camp charted two minor singles on the U.S. ''Billboard'' Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts that year. Since then he has found success as a songwriter, having co-written hit singles for many country music artists, including Willie Nelson, Garth Brooks, Josh Turner, Brooks & Dunn, and Blake Shelton, although he continues to record his own material as well. Biography Camp was raised in Perryville, Arkansas by a musical family. In 1987, he moved to Nashville and worked in the backing bands of acts including The Grand Prairie Boys, Osborne Brothers, Alan Jackson, Suzy Bogguss, and Trisha Yearwood. Tony Mullins (born in Pound, Virginia) is an American country music songwriter. Mullins moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in 1992, where he worked with Byron Gallimore's publishing company. Shawn Lane (March 21, 1963 – September 26, 2003) was an American musician who released two studio albums and collaborated with a variety of musicians including Ringo Starr, Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Reggie Young, Joe Walsh, Jonas Hellborg, Anders Johansson, Jens Johansson and many others. John & Audrey Wiggins was an American country music duo formerly signed to Mercury Records. The duo consisted of John Wiggins and his sister Audrey, both of whom alternated as lead vocalists. William Doyce “Buddy” Killen (November 13, 1932 – November 1, 2006) was an American record producer and music publisher, and a former owner of Trinity Broadcasting Network and Tree International Publishing, the largest country music publishing business, before he sold it to CBS Records in 1989. He was also the owner of Killen Music Group, involved with more diverse genres of music, such as pop and rap. Life Killen was born in Florence, Alabama.
