Bradley's Records
Bradley's Records was a UK record label in the mid-1970s. It was founded by ATV Music publishers in 1973 and run by Derek Johns. The label was active for four years with moderate success, but was discontinued in early 1977. Three acts were chosen to launch the label in February 1973: Prog-rock band Kala (an offshoot of Quintessence), Paul Brett and Hunter Muskett. Lack of commercial success caused a re-think and in late 1973 all three original acts departed (Kala were dropped after they refused to change their musical direction and wear glitter and make-up). Stuart Slater, who by now had replaced Johns, began to concentrate on releasing singles by pop artists; a policy that was to provide a number of chart hits. Among its roster of artists were television comedy trio The Goodies and Stephanie de Sykes (Slater's partner) who both had top 20 hits in the UK. Bradley's
Bradlees Department Store, more commonly known as Bradlees, was a discount department store chain based in Braintree, Massachusetts, which operated primarily in the Northeastern United States. Bradlees sold various retail items in its stores, including clothing, jewelry, health care, beauty products, footwear, furniture, electronics, housewares, and bedding. At its peak in 2000, Bradlees operated over 105 stores in seven states across the Northeast, with close to 10,000 employees. Along with being a part of Stop & Shop from 1961 until 1992, the chain went through Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2000, with all of its stores eventually closed by March 15, 2001. The Goodies
The Goodies were a trio of British comedians: Tim Brooke-Taylor (17 July 1940–12 April 2020), Graeme Garden (b. 18 February 1943) and Bill Oddie (b. 7 July 1941). The trio created, wrote for and performed in their eponymous television comedy show from 1970 until 1982, combining sketches and situation comedy. Beginnings The three actors met each other while undergraduates at the University of Cambridge, where Brooke-Taylor ( Pembroke) was a law student, Garden (Emmanuel) was studying medicine and Oddie (Pembroke) was doing English. Tarney-Spencer Band
Tarney/Spencer Band were a rock band formed in London in 1975 with Trevor Spencer on drums and Alan Tarney on lead guitar, bass guitar and lead vocals. Both had been in Australian bands, including James Taylor Move, prior to relocating to the United Kingdom, where they formed the duo. The group issued three albums, ''Tarney and Spencer'' (1976), ''Three's a Crowd'' (1978) and ''Run for Your Life'' (1979). Their single, " No Time to Lose" (1979), received airplay in the United States on album-oriented rock radio stations. It charted on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in both 1979 and again in 1981 upon re-issue. Honey, Honey
"Honey, Honey" is a song by the Swedish pop group ABBA. It was released as the second single from their second studio album, '' Waterloo'', after the success of the title track at the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest. History "Honey, Honey" was written by Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Stig Anderson, with shared vocals by Agnetha Fältskog, Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Ulvaeus. Along with the English version, ABBA also recorded "Honey, Honey" in Swedish on January 30, 1974, at Metronome Studio, Stockholm. This was the last official recording by the group in their own language, and was released as the B-side of the Swedish " Waterloo" single. In its English format, "Honey, Honey" was released with "King Kong Song" as the B-side. Sweet Dreams (1970s Band)
Sweet Dreams were an English studio group who scored a hit single in 1974 with a cover of the ABBA song "Honey Honey". Career In 1974, former Pickettywitch member and session backing vocalist Polly Brown recorded a cover of an ABBA album track, "Honey Honey". This was produced by Ron Roker and Gerry Shury, with the former also supplying the male vocal on the track. Tony Jackson was recruited to act as a partner for Brown in their performances for the single. Jackson, born in Barbados 17 March 1944, had moved to London in 1965 and spent five years as a member of reggae outfit the Skatalites who had the No. 36 hit "Guns of Navarone" in 1967. Before being recruited by Roker to partner Brown live and on Sweet Dreams' post-"Honey Honey" recordings, Jackson had spent some time fronting Gulliver's People, the house band at the Purley nightclub Tiffany's. Hunter Muskett
Hunter Muskett is an English folk-rock band, that first existed between 1968 and 1974, and reformed in 2010. Beginnings The group was formed at Avery Hill College in South London, when Terry Hiscock and Chris George were joined by fellow student Doug Morter. The band's name was taken from an anecdote about an eccentric Cornishman. Hunter Muskett began by playing in London folk-clubs and colleges mixing original songs with acoustic folk and blues. Unusually for the time they used a pa system and some electric instruments in folk clubs. Recording and touring The band signed to Decca Nova after being spotted playing at The Troubadour in London's Earls Court. On the resulting album, ‘Every Time You Move’ (1970), produced by Kim Margolis, the trio's acoustic sound was augmented by Danny Thompson (uncredited) on double bass and orchestration arranged by Richard Hewson. Sony Music Publishing (formerly Sony/ATV Music Publishing) is the largest music publisher in the world, with over five million songs owned or administered as of end March 2021. Paul Brett
Paul Brett (born 20 June 1947 in Fulham, London) is an English classic rock guitarist. He played lead guitar with Strawbs (although he was never actually a member), The Overlanders, The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera, The Velvet Opera, Tintern Abbey, Fire, Roy Harper, Al Stewart, Lonnie Donegan. He switched to twelve-string guitar in the 1970s. His first twelve-string guitar suite, ''Earth Birth'', was released on his own label, Phoenix Future, and was produced by artist Ralph Steadman of ''Fear and Loathing'' fame. Critical acclaim led to Brett being signed on a four-album deal with RCA Records. His K-tel ''Romantic Guitar'' album went gold in the UK, but Brett stopped recording soon afterwards.
