Boxing At The 2022 South American Games
Boxing competitions at the 2022 South American Games in Asunción, Paraguay are being held from 8 to 13 October 2022 at Pabellón 1 of the SND Complex. Thirteen medal events are scheduled to be contested; seven weight categories for men and six weight categories for women. A total of 88 athletes (54 men and 34 women) are competing in the events. Participating boxers must have been born between 1 January 1982 and 31 December 2003. Colombia are the South American Games boxing competitions defending champions having won them in the previous edition in Cochabamba 2018. Participating nations A total of 13 nations registered athletes for the boxing events. There were thirteen boxing events at the 2018 South American Games in Cochabamba, Bolivia. Ten for men and three for women. The events were held between June 1 and 6 at the Coliseo Suramericano. Abner Teixeira
Abner Teixeira da Silva Júnior (born 10 September 1996) is a Brazilian boxer. He competed in the men's heavyweight event at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Career Born in Osasco, Abner soon moved to Sorocaba, in the interior of São Paulo. At the age of 14, Teixeira visited a social boxing project in Sorocaba, and became involved in the sport. Shortly afterwards, the teenager began training. Dedicated, he walked 6km every day to get to the gym. The boy who dreamed of being a football player, doctor or firefighter soon began to stand out and won his first Brazilian youth title in 2013. The good results led Teixeira to the Brazilian Team. At the 2019 Pan American Games held in Lima, Peru, the heavyweight won the bronze medal. Julio César Castillo Torres (born 10 May 1988) is an Ecuadorian amateur boxer. He won two medals at the Pan American Games: a bronze in 2007 and a silver in 2011. Career At the 2006 South American Games, Castillo lost to Hamilton Ventura in the semifinals and ended up with a bronze medal.
