Boxing At The 2018 Commonwealth Games – Men's Bantamweight
The men's bantamweight boxing competitions at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia took place between 7 and 14 April at Oxenford Studios. Bantamweights were limited to those boxers weighing less than 56 kilograms. Like all Commonwealth boxing events, the competition was a straight single-elimination tournament. Both semifinal losers were awarded bronze medals, so no boxers competed again after their first loss. Bouts consisted of three rounds of three minutes each, with one-minute breaks between rounds. Beginning this year, the competition was scored using the "must-ten" scoring system. Village Roadshow Studios are a set of film studios located in Oxenford, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. The studios are owned by Village Roadshow and consist of nine sound stages as well as a range of other production facilities. Ashley Williams (boxer)
Ashley Williams (born 2 June 1991) is a Welsh amateur boxer, fighting in the 49 kg Light flyweight category. He represented Wales at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Amateur boxing career Williams was born in Bridgend, Wales in 1991. Williams, a professional soldier, holding the rank of Lance Corporal in the 1st Battalion The Royal Welsh, he trains with the GB Army team. In 2012 Williams was selected to represent Wales at the amateur Olympic Gloves tournament in Estonia. There he reached the final, but lost to English fighter Jack Bateson. In 2013 Williams was again selected by the Welsh Amateur Boxing Association to again represent Wales in the 49 kg category at the Popenchenko Memorial tournament in Moscow. Everisto Mulenga
Everisto Mulenga (born 26 March 1999) is a Zambian amateur boxer. He won a bronze medal at the 2019 African Games and later qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics by winning the African Qualification Tournament, both at featherweight. Career Mulenga won a silver medal at the 2016 African Region V Youth U20 Games in Luanda, losing to Ricardo Malajika of South Africa in the finals. He reached the quarterfinals of the bantamweight event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, where he won his first bout before suffering a loss to Mohammad Hussamuddin. Jean Jordy Vadamootoo (born 23 May 1995), known as Jordy Vadamootoo, is a Mauritian amateur boxer who won a bantamweight gold medal at the 2017 African Championships and competed at the 2017 World Championships.
