The men's bantamweight event was part of the Boxing at the 1972 Summer Olympics, boxing programme at the 1972 Summer Olympics. The weight class allowed boxers of up to 54 kilograms to compete. The competition was held from 27 August to 10 September 1972. 38 boxers from 38 nations competed.
