Bowler (TV Series)
''Bowler'' is a British television sitcom which originally aired on ITV in a single series of 13 episodes between 29 July and 21 October 1973. A situation-comedy, it was a spin-off from '' The Fenn Street Gang'' featuring George Baker as East End criminal Stanley Bowler. Released after serving a prison sentence, Stanley Bowler sets about trying to 'better' himself. Johnnie Wade
Johnnie Wade (born 30 March 1932, Bethnal Green, London) is a retired British film and television actor. His played the put upon handyman 'Roger' in the ITV Yorkshire TV comedy series ''You're Only Young Twice'' between 1977 and 1981. Born in Bethnal Green, he was a market trader and became a singer in cabaret and with a band after winning talent contests. His first television break was in 1960s soap opera ''Compact'' as Stan Millet. He then performed in musicals including ''South Pacific'' and ''Guys and Dolls''. His other television appearances include ''The Two Ronnies'', ''Porridge'' (playing 'Scrounger'), ''Coronation Street'' and Z-Cars. Christopher John Benjamin (27 December 1934 – 10 January 2025) was an English actor with many stage and television credits from 1958 to 2016. He played Henry Gordon Jago in the 1977 ''Doctor Who'' story ''The Talons of Weng-Chiang'', a role he reprised for the audio drama series ''Jago & Litefoot'' (2010–2017, 2021), and made two other appearances in the series, portraying Sir Keith Gold in ''Inferno (Doctor Who), Inferno'' (1970) and Colonel Hugh Curbishley in "The Unicorn and the Wasp" (2008). He also provided the voice of Rowf in the animated film ''The Plague Dogs (film), The Plague Dogs'' (1982). Gretchen Franklin (7 July 1911 – 11 July 2005) was an English actress and dancer with a career in show business spanning over 70 years. She played Ethel Skinner in the long-running BBC 1 soap opera ''EastEnders'' on a regular basis from 1985 until 1988. After this she returned to the show intermittently. These appearances became briefer and more widely spaced. Her final appearance was in 2000, when her character was killed off.
