Bosniak Academy Of Sciences And Arts
The Bosniak Academy of Sciences and Arts ( bs, Bošnjačka akademija nauka i umjetnosti, BANU) is an academic institution in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The institution is based in Sarajevo (BiH) and has divisions in both Sarajevo and Novi Pazar (Serbia) to better reflect Bosniak interests in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sandžak. The institution was founded on 9 July 2011 in Novi Pazar under the initiative of Muamer Zukorlić, Muamer ef. Zukorlić, mufti of the Bosniaks of Serbia, Islamic Community in Serbia. As per the decision of the founding assembly, Ferid Muhić was unilaterally proclaimed president while Dževad Jahić and Lamija Hadžiosmanović were named vice-presidents. A Mufti (; ar, مفتي) is an Islamic jurist qualified to issue a nonbinding opinion ('' fatwa'') on a point of Islamic law (''sharia''). The act of issuing fatwas is called ''iftāʾ''. Muftis and their ''fatwas'' played an important role throughout Islamic history, taking on new roles in the modern era. Bosniak Culture
The Bosniaks ( bs, Bošnjaci, Cyrillic: Бошњаци, ; , ) are a South Slavic ethnic group native to the Southeast European historical region of Bosnia, which is today part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who share a common Bosnian ancestry, culture, history and language. They primarily live in Bosnia, Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia, Kosovo as well as in Austria, Germany, Turkey and Sweden. Nedžad Ibrišimović
Nedžad Ibrišimović, (20 October 1940 – 15 September 2011) was a Bosnian writer and sculptor. Between 1993 and 2001, he was a president of the Association of Writers of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is best known for the novels ''Ugursuz'' (1968, Unfortunate) and ''Vječnik'' (2005), translated in English as ''Eternee'' (2010). In 2011 he was one of the founders of the Bosniak Academy of Sciences and Arts. Ibrišimović's novels have been translated into Czech, Turkish, Albanian, English, French, Spanish, German and Italian. Muhamed Filipović
Muhamed Filipović (3 August 1929 – 26 February 2020) was a Bosnian academic, writer, essayist, theorist and philosopher. As a young man he took part in the communist takeover of power and Yugoslav Partisans in 1945. He worked as a professor at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Sarajevo. Some authors see him as one of the leading late 20th and early 21st century Bosniak academics. Early life Filipović was born on 3 August 1929 in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina, then a part of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia to Sulejman Filipović and his wife Đula. His mothers first cousins were Džafer and Osman Kulenović. He bore the surname Filipović, not only after his father but also after his mother.
