Borshchahivka (now A Village In The Pohrebyshche District Of The Vinnytsia Oblast)
Borshchahivka ( uk, Борщагі́вка; russian: Борщаго́вка) is a neighborhood located to the west and south-west of Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. It is part of the city's Sviatoshynskyi District. The neighborhood is named after a large village that was founded at the site. The contemporary urban look comes from the 1960s and 1970s. The neighborhood is divided into two sections: Mykilska and Pivdenna (''South'') Borshchahivka. A village named Petropavlivska Borshchahivka also exists nearby, but it does not belong to Kyiv. A fast tram line connects Borshchahivka with Kyiv's central railway station. In Polish Slownik geograficzny (Geographic Dictionary), there is a mentioning of locality named as Borzakowszczyzna near Pyrohiv (Pirogow), which is a property of Kyiv Cave Monastery. Sviatoshynskyi District
Sviatoshynskyi Raion ( uk, Святошинський район, ''Sviatoshynskyi Raion'') is an urban district in the city of Kyiv located at the western part of city. The district was created in 2001 after renaming the former Leningrad District. It borders four other districts in Kyiv such as Podilskyi District, Obolonskyi District, Solomianskyi District, Shevchenkivskyi District as well as Bucha Raion that administratively is part of Kyiv Oblast. Petropavlivska Borshchahivka
Petropavlivska Borshchahivka ( uk, Петропавлівська Борщагівка) is a village in Bucha Raion of Kyiv Oblast (province) of Ukraine. It belongs to Borshchahivka rural hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. History Founded in 1113. According to the Geographical Dictionary of the Kingdom of Poland in 1497 the village was passed by the Grand Duke of Lithuania Alexander Jagiellon to Kyiv monasteries. The name of the village originates from the river ″Borshchahivka″ (today also known as Nyvky) over which the village is located, and the Petropavlivskiy Dominican monastery, which in turn got its name from two apostles: Peter and Paul). Kyiv Light Rail or Kyiv Express Tram ( uk, Київський швидкісний трамвай, translit.: ''Kyivs’kyi shvydkisnyi tramvai'') is a light rail rapid transit service that serves the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. Pyrohiv ( uk, Пирогі́в), also known as Pirogov (russian: Пирого́в), originally a village south of Kyiv, is a neighborhood in the southern outskirts of the Ukrainian capital city. It is now home to an outdoor Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine. Although the origin of the toponym is uncertain, ''pyrohiv'' is genitive plural form of the Ukrainian word for pie. Švitrigaila (before 1370 – 10 February 1452; sometimes spelled Svidrigiello) was the Grand Duke of Lithuania from 1430 to 1432. The House of Olelkovich ( be, Алелькавічы, lt, Olelkaičiai, pl, Olelkowicze, uk, Олельковичі) was a 15th–16th-century princely family from the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Their main possession was the Duchy of Slutsk–Kapyl. They are sometimes known as Slutskys. They were descended from the Lithuanian Gediminids (male line) and Ruthenian Rurikids (female line). According to the 1528 military census, the family was the fourth wealthiest magnate family in the Grand Duchy. However, its influence declined after the Union of Lublin (1569).
