Josh Guenter
Josh Guenter (born April 22, 1994) is a Canadian politician and member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, representing the electoral division of Borderland. He was elected in the 2019 Manitoba general election as a member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba. Early life Guenter was born in Altona, Manitoba, and grew up in the nearby community of Gnadenthal. After graduating from high school, he studied briefly at the University of Manitoba and University of Ottawa. Political career He worked on Parliament Hill for two years while living in Ottawa, Ontario, and more recently for Candice Bergen and Cameron Friesen. Guenter won the Manitoba PC Party nomination for Borderland on April 11, 2019. Emerson (electoral District)
Emerson is a former provincial electoral division in the Canadian province of Manitoba. It was created by redistribution in 1879 and eliminated prior the 2019 general election. Most of its territory was redistributed to the newly created Borderland riding. The eastern part of the former riding was transferred to the La Verendrye riding. It was located in the southeastern corner of the province. It is bordered to the north by Carman, Morris, Steinbach and La Verendrye, to the west by Pembina, to the east by the province of Ontario and to the south by the American state of North Dakota. The riding included the communities/municipalities of Emerson, Altona, Dominion City, Rhineland, Gretna, Woodridge and St. Jean Baptiste. The riding's population in 2008 was 20,370. Cliff Graydon is a farmer and former politician in Manitoba, Canada. He was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 2007 to 2019, representing the electoral division of Emerson. Graydon was born in Arnaud, Manitoba and has farmed for 30 years, growing grain and raising cattle. The New Democratic Party of Manitoba (french: Nouveau Parti démocratique du Manitoba) is a social-democratic political party in Manitoba, Canada. It is the provincial wing of the federal New Democratic Party, and is a successor to the Manitoba Co-operative Commonwealth Federation. It is currently the opposition party in Manitoba. 2016 Manitoba General Election
The 2016 Manitoba general election was held on April 19, 2016 to elect members to the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, Canada. The New Democratic Party of Manitoba, led by Greg Selinger, were defeated by the Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba led by Brian Pallister, ending nearly 17 years of NDP government. The Tories won 40 seats, one of the largest majority governments in Manitoba history, the other one was in 1915 when Liberals also won 40 seats.
