"Bonzo's Montreux" is a drum solo by Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham. It was recorded in September 1976 at Mountain Studios in Montreux, Switzerland, with electronic effects later added by Jimmy Page. The track was released on the 1982 compilation album, ''Coda''. "Bonzo's Montreux" was never performed live at Led Zeppelin concerts, however, Bonham performed parts of the song during "Moby Dick" in 1977. Reception In a contemporary review of ''Coda'', Kurt Loder of ''Rolling Stone'' gave the track a positive review, praising Bonham's "drum orchestra" and the electronic effects added by Page. ''Coda'' is the first compilation album by the English rock band Led Zeppelin. The album is a collection of unused tracks from various sessions during Led Zeppelin's twelve-year career. It was released on 19 November 1982, almost two years after the group had officially disbanded following the death of drummer John Bonham. The word ''Coda (music), coda'', meaning a passage that ends a musical piece following the main body, was therefore chosen as the title. Mountain Studios was a commercial recording studio founded by American singer and composer Anita Kerr and husband Alex Grob in 1975 within the Montreux Casino in Montreux, Switzerland. The studio was under the ownership of Queen and then long-time Queen producer David Richards, from 1979 until 2013, after which it became the charity museum/exhibition '' Queen: The Studio Experience'', benefitting the Mercury Phoenix Trust. Swan Song Records
Swan Song Records was a record label launched by the English rock band Led Zeppelin on 10 May 1974. It was overseen by Led Zeppelin's manager Peter Grant and was a vehicle for the band to promote its own products as well as sign artists who found it difficult to win contracts with other major labels. The decision to launch the label came after Led Zeppelin's five-year contract with Atlantic Records expired at the end of 1973, although Atlantic ultimately distributed the label's product.
