''Bones'' is the fourth studio album by Son Lux. It was released through Glassnote Records on June 23, 2015. With the release of the album, members Rafiq Bhatia and Ian Chang joined founding member Ryan Lott, transitioning Son Lux from a solo project to a three-piece band. It peaked at number 14 on the '' Billboard'' Heatseekers Albums chart, as well as number 10 on the Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart. Critical reception At Metacritic, which assigns a weighted average score out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 66 based on 13 reviews, indicating "generally favorable reviews". Son Lux
Son Lux is an American experimental band. Originally the solo project and moniker of founding member Ryan Lott, the band's first three albums, '' At War with Walls & Mazes'', ''We Are Rising'' and ''Lanterns'', shaped the band's unique sound through post-rock and electronica influences. With the release of their fourth studio album, ''Bones'', in 2015, Rafiq Bhatia and Ian Chang joined Son Lux, transforming the project into a three-piece band. After the release of their EPs ''Stranger Forms'' and ''Remedy'', the band's fifth album, '' Brighter Wounds'', was released in February 2018. Nathan Johnson (musician)
Nathan Tyler Johnson (born August 4, 1976) is an American film composer, director, and producer. Early life Johnson was born in Washington, D.C., and grew up in Colorado. After living in England in the mid-2000s, Johnson relocated to the East coast of the U.S., where he launched a live touring project with his band, The Cinematic Underground. His work with the band opened up doors into film composing, and his first musical score was for the award-winning film ''Brick''. Career Composing In 2005, Johnson composed the score to the neo-noir film ''Brick'', which was written and directed by his cousin Rian Johnson. The score features traditional instruments such as the piano, trumpet and violin, and also contains unique and invented instruments such as the wine-o-phone, metallophone, treated pianos, filing cabinets, and kitchen utensils. Moses Sumney
Moses Sumney is a Ghanaian-American singer-songwriter. His self-recorded EP, ''Mid-City Island'', was released in 2014. He released another five-song EP in 2016, titled ''Lamentations''. His first full-length album, ''Aromanticism'', was released in September 2017. His second studio album, ''Græ'', was released in 2020. Sumney has performed as an opening act for James Blake, Solange Knowles, and Sufjan Stevens. Early life Born in California, Sumney was raised by pastor parents, and moved with his family back to Ghana at the age of 10. He described his childhood as "Americanized" by this age and had difficulty adjusting to the culture of Ghana, especially the rural nature of his new environment. Sarah Pedinotti is an American songwriter and musician originally from Saratoga Springs, NY. She is the lead singer and songwriter of the band Railbird (band), Railbird. In March 2011 Railbird toured to and from SXSW supporting their debut, self-released album, No One. Recorded mostly in Queens, and partly in upstate, NY, No One is a conceptual album that took a year and a half to complete. In December 2010 Railbird was featured as of the "Top Five Bands You Should Know About" in Relix, Relix Magazine. Pedinotti is one of seven in a family of artists. She began writing, singing and playing piano at an early age influenced by an eclectic assortment of music. Kristin Andreassen
Kristin Andreassen is an American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, dancer, old time musician and educator. Currently based in Nashville, Tennessee, she started her music career as a professional clogger with Footworks Percussive Dance Ensemble and in the early 2000s joined the folk bands Uncle Earl and Sometymes Why as a vocalist, dancer, songwriter, guitarist. She is known for using body percussion and dance in live performances. In 2007 she released her first solo album, ''Kiss Me Hello'', which was produced by Mark Schatz (Nickel Creek). The opening track "Crayola Doesn't Make a Color for Your Eyes" won the John Lennon Songwriting Contest in the Children's Category, also becoming a hit on children's radio despite the fact that the overall album was intended for adult listeners. Rob Moose
Rob Moose (born 1982) is an American multi-instrumentalist, arranger, producer, conductor, and orchestrator. He primarily plays the violin, viola, and guitar. Early life and education Moose was born in 1982. He was raised in Windsor, Connecticut and learned piano and violin at The Hartt School. He attended the Loomis Chaffee School through 10th grade, before moving with his family to Moorestown, New Jersey. He completed high school at Moorestown Friends School, graduating in 2000. Moose studied violin at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City. He began a master's program in American studies at Columbia University, but left to join Antony and the Johnsons on tour in 2005.
