Torleiv Bolstad
Torleiv Bolstad (25 October 1915 – 10 February 1979) was a Norwegian musician and Hardanger fiddle player. He won the Norwegian Landskappleiken ( National Fiddle Contest) four times, in 1947, 1957, 1970 and 1971. Biography Bolstad was born in Øystre Slidre, Oppland county, Norway in 1915, and grew up in the village, where he learnt traditional Norwegian music from Ola Okshovd and Engebret Beitohaugen. He learnt many traditional tunes during his childhood and got his first fiddle at the age of ten. He moved to Oslo in 1947 where he worked with Kjetil Løndal, and the two were regarded as the best concert fiddlers at the time. Bolstad was known for his clean style and good stroke, maintaining a good dance rhythm, and was conscious of the quality of the dancing and the dialogue between dancer and musician. Øivind Bolstad
Øivind Bolstad (1 February 1905 – 7 May 1979) was a Norwegian playwright and novelist. Bolstad was born at Vardø in Finnmark, Norway. He made his literary breakthrough with the novel ''Den røde begonia'' from 1947. Bolstad published a number of short stories and narratives in both Norwegian and foreign magazines as well as a series of books and narrations. David Kelvin Bolstad (12 May 1969 – 19 November 2011) was a New Zealand representative woodchopper. He was Stihl Timbersports Series champion five times between 2001 and 2008. His father Sonny Bolstad was also a New Zealand representative axeman. Bjørn Bolstad Skjelbred
Bjørn Bolstad Skjelbred (born 1970) is a Norwegian composer, arranger, improviser and teacher. Career Skjelbred is educated from the Norwegian Academy of Music. His list of works encompasses more than 60 works in a variety of genres: solo- and chamber music, electro-acoustic pieces, works for sinfonietta and orchestra as well as film and theatre scores. He has worked with a number of groups, ensembles and performers including theatre collective De Utvalgte, percussionist Eirik Raude, ensemble Pärlor for svin, Nordic Voices, Ensemble 2000 and flautist Marianne Leth. Skjelbred’s works have seen performances in the Nordic countries, Germany, France, the US and Canada at festivals such as Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival, Ilios and UKM. Parallel to his compositional career, Skjelbred teaches composition and improvisation.
