Bogalay Tint Aung
Bogalay Tint Aung ( my, ဗိုလ်ကလေးတင့်အောင်; 3 June 1922 – 16 December 2021) was a Burmese composer, director and writer. The first recipient of the Myanmar Academy Award for lifetime achievement, Tint Aung was a patron of the Myanmar Motion Picture Organisation. Early life and education Tint Aung, the second of six siblings, was born on 3 June 1922 in Bogale, Pyapon District, Ayeyarwady Division to U Ba Thin and Daw Phwar Thein. His younger brother Maung Ko Ko is also a musician. When a labor strike broke out in Burma, in 1938, Tint Aung dropped out of school in the 8th grade and took part in the revolution. He joined the Burma Independence Army (BIA) in 1942, alongside Bo Aung Myint, Bo San Shar and Bo Than. Career Tint Aung made his career debut in 1948 as the author of the play ''Myat Mon Yadana''. Religious honorary orders Before and after Myanmar's independence, governments presented two Burmese Buddhist titles, religious orders, Abhidhaja Maha Rathta Guru and Agga Maha Pandita, to distinguished Theravada Buddhist monks. The group set four qualifications for the Abhidhaja Maha Rathta Guru order and five qualifications for Agga Maha Pandita order. Burmese Names
Burmese names lack the serial structure of most Western names. The Burmans have no customary matronymic or patronymic system and thus there is no surname at all. In the culture of Myanmar, people can change their name at will, often with no government oversight, to reflect a change in the course of their lives. Also, many Burmese names use an honorific, given at some point in life, as an integral part of the name. Traditional and Western-style names Burmese names were originally one syllable, as in the cases of U Nu and U Thant ("U" being an honorific). In the mid-20th century, many Burmese started using two syllables, albeit without any formal structure. In the late 1890s, British scholars observed that Rakhines commonly adopted three-syllable names whereas Burmans were still using one or two at most. Voice of America (VOA or VoA) is the state-owned news network and international radio broadcaster of the United States of America. It is the largest and oldest U.S.-funded international broadcaster. Burma Independence Army
The Burma Independence Army (BIA), was a collaborationist and revolutionary army that fought for the end of British rule in Burma by assisting the Japanese in their conquest of the country in 1942 during World War II. It was the first post-colonial army in Burmese history. The BIA was formed from group known as the Thirty Comrades under the auspices of the Imperial Japanese Army after training the Burmese nationalists in 1941. The BIA's attempts at establishing a government during the invasion led to it being dissolved by the Japanese and the smaller Burma Defence Army (BDA) formed in its place. As Japan guided Burma towards nominal independence, the BDA was expanded into the Burma National Army (BNA) of the State of Burma, a puppet state under Ba Maw, in 1943.Donald M. Maung Ko Ko
Gita Lulin Maung Ko Ko ( my, ဂီတလုလင် မောင်ကိုကို; 12 November 1928 – 10 October 2007) was a Burmese musician and composer. He is best known for his outstanding musical performances and won the Best Music Academy Awards for 1991, 1994 and 2002. Early life Maung Ko Ko was born on 12 November 1928 to parents U Ba Thin and Daw Phwar Thein in Bogale, Irrawaddy Division, British Burma. He was fourth son of six siblings. His brother Bogalay Tint Aung was also a composer. Career In 1939, Maung Ko Ko began studying music at the Art and Instrument Training School in Rangoon. In 1940, he began broadcasting and recording Colombia record. In 1943, he played music as the band leader in a silent film. In 1946, he became band leader in Play. In 1947, he was a band leader in Burmese sound films. He was the music director for the 1970 film Hmone Shwe Yee and supported the film with several musical blocks.
