Robert Kerr (athlete)
Robert Kerr (June 9, 1882 – May 12, 1963) was an Irish Canadians, Irish Canadian athletics (sport), sprinter. He won the gold medal in the 200 metres and the bronze medal in the 100 metres at the 1908 Summer Olympics. Biography Kerr was born in Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, Ireland. His family immigrated to Canada when he was five, eventually settling in Hamilton, Ontario. While working as a fireman, Kerr also enjoyed running in his spare time. He soon became the best regional sprinter, and in 1904 he used his savings to travel to St. Louis, Missouri, Saint Louis, United States and compete in the 1904 Summer Olympics. There, he was eliminated in the heats of all three events he entered (60 metres, 100 metres and 200 metres). However, Kerr's performances got better, and he set Canadian records in all sprint distances between 40 and 220 yards. He won Canadian titles in the 100 yards (1907) and 200 yards (1906 to 1908). Bobby Kerr is an Irish entrepreneur and businessman. He was the chairman of Insomnia Coffee Company. In 2009, he was a "dragon" on the Irish version of ''Dragons' Den'', produced by Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ). Career Kerr's first job was in 1981 as chef/trainee manager in AIB Catering Ballsbridge. For two years he worked at the North Sea oil rigs, before working for Versa Food Services in Canada in 1984. While in Canada, Kerr held Assistant Catering Manager positions in the CNE Stadium Toronto, Ottawa Civic Centre, Crystal Beach Park and African Lion Safari and coordinated the catering for Pope John Paul II's visit to Canada in 1985 for one million people. When he returned to Ireland in 1986, Kerr took the position of Assistant Manager in Jury's Hotel Ballsbridge. He then took up the role of Catering Manager for Campbell Catering in UCC from 1987–1989. Robert James Kerr (29 November 1929 – 13 May 2012) was a Scottish footballer who played as an inside forward or centre forward in the English Football League for Darlington and in the Scottish Football League for Third Lanark, Stirling Albion and Greenock Morton in the 1950s. Life and career Kerr was born in Coatbridge in 1929. He played Junior football for Pollok before signing for "A" Division club Third Lanark. He made no first-team appearances before his career was interrupted by National Service commitments with the RAF. In the later part of 1952, he was stationed at RAF Middleton St George, in the north east of England, and Third Lanark allowed him to play for Darlington of the English Third Division North when available to do so. Robert Kerr (born 16 November 1947 in Alexandria, Scotland) is a former football midfielder who captained Sunderland to victory in the 1973 FA Cup Final versus Leeds United Career Kerr joined Sunderland in 1964, making his debut and scoring the only goal in a win against Manchester City in December 1966. Nicknamed ''the Little General'' due to his tough style of play and lack of height, Kerr made 413 starts and 14 substitute appearances between 1964 and 1979 for Sunderland, and is widely acknowledged as one of the club's greatest-ever servants. After twice breaking his leg at the start of his Sunderland career, Kerr overcame the setbacks to lead the club to FA Cup glory in 1973 by beating strong favourites Leeds United 1–0, a feat which is seen as one of the greatest shocks in English football.
