Bob Hill (footballer)
Robert Hill (3 July 1867 – 3 October 1938) was a Scottish footballer who played primarily as a centre or inside forward. Born in Forfar, Scotland, Hill began his football career when he was a soldier and was spotted playing for his regimental team, Black Watch. After a brief spell at Glentoran, it was Irish League rivals Linfield who bought him out of his army contract and took him on as a player. Hill spent three successful seasons with the Belfast club, winning two Irish Cup and two League Champions medals with them. On February 1893, Hill arrived at Sheffield United, scoring on his debut as a trialist and prompting United to sign him permanently. He soon established himself in United's first team and played in the 1893 test–match victory that saw them promoted to the First Division. Robert Haskell Hill (April 2, 1892 – December 28, 1942), aka War Horse, was a professional football player who played in the National Football League during the 1922 season. Allen Robert Hill (July 8, 1922 — July 12, 2022) was an American motorcycle racer. He won the A.M.A. Grand National Championship in 1951 and 1952 by virtue of his victories on the Springfield Mile. Hill won a total of 12 AMA nationals during his professional racing career spanning the years 1947 to 1959. He was inducted to the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 1998. Racing career Born in Triadelphia, West Virginia, he started riding motorcycles when he was 16. He started racing in 1940. Due to the outbreak of World War II Hill's racing career was put on hold. Ian "Bobby" Hill (born 9 February 2000) is an Australian rules footballer who plays for the Collingwood Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Robert Gribben Hill (15 July 1938 — 19 November 2017) was a Scottish first-class cricketer and administrator. Hill was born in at Kilmarnock in July 1938 and was educated there at Kilmarnock Academy. A club cricketer for Kilmarnock Cricket Club, he made his debut for Scotland in first-class cricket against Warwickshire at Edinburgh in 1963, with Hill making two further appearances in that year against the touring Pakistan Eaglets and Ireland. He made three further appearances in first-class cricket for Scotland, against Warwickshire on Scotland's 1964 and 1965 tours of England, and finally against Surrey at The Oval on Scotland's 1969 tour of England. Frederick John Hill (born 31 October 1940), known as Bob Hill, is a Jersey politician and human rights campaigner. For 18 years he was Deputy for the parish of St Martin in the States of Jersey. Tyrone Bobby Joe Hill (June 12, 1943 – December 8, 2002) was an American basketball player and was the leading scorer of the 1965–66 Texas Western College (now the University of Texas at El Paso) team, helping the Miners win the 1966 NCAA basketball championship. William Robert Hill (born April 3, 1978) is an American former professional baseball infielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates. Hill attended the University of Miami, where he played baseball, and was then drafted by the Chicago Cubs. In 2000, before playing for the Cubs organization, he played for the Newark Bears in the independent Atlantic League. He hit .326 with 13 home runs and 82 RBI. He also stole a team record 81 bases and Base on balls, walked a league record 101 times in 132 games. When Hill reached the major leagues with the Cubs, he was assigned the number 17, becoming the first player to wear the number since Mark Grace, who had worn it from 1988 through 2000 with Chicago.
