Peter Robert Worthington (born 22 April 1947) is an English former professional footballer who played as a left back, making nearly 300 appearances in the Football League. Halifax, West Yorkshire
Halifax () is a minster and market town in the Metropolitan Borough of Calderdale in West Yorkshire, England. It is the commercial, cultural and administrative centre of the borough, and the headquarters of Calderdale Council. David Worthington (born 28 March 1945) is an English former professional football player and coach. Worthington, who played as a right back, made nearly 500 appearances in the Football League between 1961 and 1976. Personal life Born in Halifax, Worthington had two brothers who were also professional footballers – Bob and Frank. His son Gary was also a professional footballer. Career Worthington made nearly 500 appearances in the Football League between 1961 and 1976 for Halifax Town, Barrow, Grimsby Town and Southend United. At Grimsby between 1966 and 1973, he made 293 appearances in the Football League, scoring 14 goals in the process. Worthington was part of the 1971–72 team that won the Division Four title. Gary Worthington (born 10 November 1966) is an English former professional footballer who played as a striker. Active in the Football League between 1984 and 1994, Worthington made nearly 200 career appearances, scoring over 50 goals. After retiring as a player, Worthington became a football coach and scout, and is currently head of player recruitment at Manchester City. Frank Stewart Worthington (23 November 1948 – 22 March 2021) was an English footballer who played as a forward. Worthington was born into a footballing family in Shelf, near Halifax, West Riding of Yorkshire. Both of his parents had played the game and his two older brothers, Dave and Bob, became professional footballers, both began their careers with Halifax Town. His nephew Gary was also a professional footballer. Club career Worthington began his career as a forward for Huddersfield Town in 1966 before playing for Leicester City, Bolton Wanderers, Birmingham City, Leeds United, Sunderland, Southampton, Brighton and Hove Albion, Tranmere Rovers, Preston North End, Stockport County and Galway United.
