Bob Wood (comics)
Robert L. Wood (June 14, 1917 – November 7, 1966), was an American comics illustrator. Wood worked for the Harry "A" Chesler Company and provided art for multiple companies, including MLJ Magazines and Lev Gleason Publications. In 1942, Wood and Charles Biro co-created '' Crime Does Not Pay'', a series largely credited with beginning the "crime comics" trend in the industry. Wood's personal life was marred by drinking and gambling addictions, and he served a total of three years and eight months in prison between 1958 and 1963 for manslaughter. A few years after his release, Wood was struck by a car and killed. Robert Edward "Bob" Wood (born February 20, 1959) is an American author, teacher and activist. As a 26-year-old high school history teacher from Kalamazoo, Michigan, (though teaching in Seattle, Washington at the time), he wrote the 1988 best selling book ''Dodger Dogs to Fenway Franks''. In June 2008, the sports blog, Baseball Musings, wrote a story commemorating the 20th anniversary of ''Dodger Dogs to Fenway Franks''. Wood resides in Grand Haven, Michigan. First book During the summer of 1985, Wood visited each of the 26 Major League Baseball stadiums. He graded the sites on eight criteria: layout and upkeep, the ball field, seating, the scoreboard, food, courtesy of employees, facilities and atmosphere. Giving grades from A+ to D, Wood concluded that the two best ball parks in the majors were Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles and Royals Stadium in Kansas City. Robert "Bob" Wood, (born October 10, 1949) is a former politician in Ontario, Canada. He was as a Progressive Conservative member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1995 to 2003 who represented the southern Ontario ridings of London South and London West. Background Wood was educated at the University of Western Ontario, receiving a law degree in 1970. He practiced law in London, Ontario after his graduation, and was the proprietor of the firm Walker and Wood. He also served on the Board of Managers for St. Paul's Cathedral in London, and was the Board Chairman for the Western Ontario Therapeutic Community Hostel. Politics Wood ran for the Ontario legislature in the provincial election of 1990, placing third in London South against incumbent Liberal Joan Smith and the winner, New Democrat David Winninger. Robert Lynn Wood (July 28, 1865 – May 22, 1943) was a professional baseball player. He played all or part of seven seasons in Major League Baseball, three with the Cincinnati Reds (1898–1900), and two each with the Cleveland Blues/Bronchos (1901–1902) and Detroit Tigers (1904–1905). Early years Wood was born in 1865 at Glasgow, Scotland. He moved with his parents to the United States at age eight and was raised in Youngstown, Ohio. Baseball career Wood began his professional baseball career with the Indianapolis Hoosiers of the Western League in 1895 at age 26. He remained with Indianapolis for three years. Wood made his major-league debut in 1898 for the Cincinnati Reds. He played three years for the Reds from 1898 to 1900. In 1899, he hit .313 with a .404 on-base percentage with the Reds.
