Bloodwire
Battery was an American electro-industrial trio based in San Francisco. It consisted of vocalist Maria Azevedo and musicians Evan Sornstein and Shawn Brice. They released four albums on COP International between 1993 and 1998 before disbanding. History Battery was formed at Bennington College, Vermont, in 1989 by Shawn Brice, Stuart Scanlon and Evan Sornstein, beginning in an electronic music project for class. In 1991, the trio relocated to San Francisco, where they were adopted by COP Intl. In 1992, Stuart moved back to the East Coast, and Battery recruited vocalist Maria Azevedo who had stood in during a live show. COP International issued the band's debut album ''Mutate'' in 1993. Their second album '' nv'' released in 1995. It was followed by '' Distance'' a year later, which was a culmination of four months in the studio. ''Meat Market'' is the second EP by Battery, released in 1992 by COP International. The artwork for the release was accidentally switched with ''Nothing'' by Diatribe. Music After the members of Battery graduated college Shawn Brice and Evan Sornstein moved out to San Francisco, with former vocalist Stuart Scanlon leaving the band to work on 3D graphics in New York. The band knew Maria Azevedo for being the roommate of former member Evan Sornstein's sister at college. The band wanted to introduce a feminine angle to what they considered the male dominated genere of industrial music and recruited Azevedo as their vocalist after she informed them of her singing ability and auditioned her during a life performance. Eternal Darkness (EP)
''Eternal Darkness'' is the debut EP of Battery, released in 1991 by COP International. Music Founding members Shawn Brice and Evan Sornstein met at Bennington College in Vermont in 1989. Both were influenced by electronic music, with Sornstein having grown up listening to Wendy Carlos (formerly Walter Carlos), Kraftwerk, Klaus Schultze and Isao Tomita. After composing as a duo they decided to recruit fellow student Stuart Scanlon to fill membership and earn extra credit and money - the college paid bands a hundred dollars to perform for a live audience. When asked why the name Battery appealed to its members, they replied: "According to any standard American dictionary it signifies: a percussion section of an orchestra, the artillery section of an army, cells where energy is stored, the dock/loading industrial section of a major city, and on and on."
