''Blood in the Gears'' is the fourth album from American Christian metal band The Showdown. It's their second album with Solid State Records. Released on August 24, 2010, the album was recorded at Anthem Productions in Nashville, Tennessee, and produced by the band's bassist, Jeremiah Scott. The title track was released as a single. Reception '' PopMatters'' reviewer Chris Colgan called the album "a pinnacle in The Showdown's career because they have both cemented their sound and managed to experiment with new ideas and influences at the same time". Jesusfreakhideout.com gave it three and a half stars, with Timothy Estabrooks calling it "an album with the occasional high point, but not enough consistency to be memorable". The Showdown (band)
The Showdown is an American Christian metal band from Elizabethton, Tennessee. While the members of the band are Christian and the band is signed to a Christian record label, the band does not consider itself a Christian act, according to guitarist Josh Childers, while in an interview with Vocalist David Bunton, when asked about a Christian Metal band, answered without correcting the interviewer. Lyrically, their writing tells of heroism, sojourns and battles of life, most of which is influenced by Biblical aspects. As of 2008, they are signed to Solid State Records. The band supposedly formed in 2004 as "The Showdown" but was originally called "2540" from 1999 to 2004. Ethan John Luck is an American musician, producer, multi-instrumentalist and photographer who has played in several bands, most prominently, the ska band The O.C. Supertones, Demon Hunter, Kings of Leon, Morgan Wade, and pop punk band Relient K. He has played on albums for Kutless, Roper, Nikki Clan and Last Tuesday. Background Luck and fellow Supertones alumnus Daniel Spencer ran Rebel Waltz Recording Co., a recording studio based in Franklin, Tennessee. Ryan Clark (born June 23, 1979) is an American graphic designer and musician who also has performed under the stage name Maven. He is best known as the lead vocalist of the Christian metal band Demon Hunter, which he co-founded with his brother, guitarist Don Clark. He was also the frontman for Christian metalcore band Training for Utopia along with being one of the guitarists for Focal Point. Demon Hunter is an American Christian metal band from Seattle, Washington, started in 2000 by brothers Don Clark and Ryan Clark. Although the brothers created the band together, only Ryan remains, since Don left the band to take care of his family. As of early 2010, the band has sold over half a million albums. The band's style is known for combining nu metal sounds and qualities with ones heard in metalcore. The name references historic and folkloric demon hunters. Destroy Destroy Destroy is an American heavy metal band formed in Murfreesboro, Tennessee in late February 2003.
