Blair Station
Blair is a station on Ottawa's transitway and O-Train located at Blair Road and Regional Road 174. It is a major transfer point for commuters within urban Gloucester and Orléans. Location This station is adjacent to the Gloucester Centre shopping complex, and nearby the Scotiabank Theatre Ottawa mega-movie theatre, a small bank, and other major retail stores. Shoppers City East located across Blair Road contains also several other major stores such as Canadian Tire. A long pedestrian overpass for the Queensway provides access to office complexes, a small park and ride parking lot, and the Pineview residential area. Transitway Prior to the construction of the Confederation Line, this was the last station in the grade separated eastern leg of the transitway; after this point, buses used exclusive shoulder lanes on the Queensway beyond this point towards Orleans. O-Train
The O-Train is a light metro transit system in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, operated by OC Transpo. The O-Train system has two lines, the electrically-operated Confederation Line (Line 1) and the diesel-operated Trillium Line (Line 2). Since May 2020, Stage 2 construction has temporarily shut down Line 2, with replacement bus service being offered at all stations. When Line 2 reopens in mid-2023, it will extend southward to Limebank station and incorporate five newly constructed stations, as well as an additional line ( Line 4) linking Line 2 to Ottawa International Airport which will replace the current bus service from route 97. By 2025, expansions along Line 1 and the construction of Line 3 stations in the west end are expected to be complete, bringing the system's length to , four lines and 41 stations. Catherine Widgery
Catherine Widgery (born 1953) is an American artist. Widgery is known for both her studio-based sculpture work and her public sculpture. Early life Widgery was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University in 1975 where she graduated cum laude and was awarded special distinction in Fine Arts and the Walker Prize for 'outstanding artistic achievement" by the Fine Arts Faculty. Personal life Widgery has lived in different parts of the world US, Canada, London and Rome and Guatemala. She lived in Montreal from 1979 until 2000, when she moved to Truro, Massachusettswhere she lived until 2004 before moving to Guatemala. Paid Area
In rail transport, the paid area is a dedicated "inner" zone in a railway station or metro station, accessible via turnstiles or other barriers, to get into which, visitors or passengers require a valid ticket, checked smartcard or a pass. A system using paid areas is often called fare control. Passengers are allowed to enter or exit only through a faregate. A paid area usually exists in rapid transit railway stations for separating the train platform from the station exit, ensuring a passenger has paid or prepaid before reaching the railway platform and using any transport service. Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. An alternative arrangement is to position side platforms on either side of the tracks. The historical use of island platforms depends greatly upon the location. Montreal Road (French: ''Chemin de Montréal''), also known as Ottawa Road #34, is a major east-west Ottawa road that links Lowertown to Vanier and the farther eastern neighbourhoods of Ottawa. Until downloading in 1998, it was part of the provincially managed Highway 17B. Since the early 20th century, Montreal Road has been the cultural core of Vanier.
