Penrith District Rugby League
The Penrith District Junior Rugby League (PDJRL) is an amateur rugby league competition for senior and junior rugby league clubs in the Penrith, Blacktown, and Blue Mountains area. History The competition was founded in 1912 and grew gradually as more clubs from the surrounding areas entered the competition. The first Penrith club were the Waratahs and adopted the blue and white colours, playing out of Penrith Showground. When the Parramatta District Rugby League was formed all the teams from the Penrith and surrounding areas affiliated and played in the Parramatta League. Samoa Rugby League Team
The Samoa national rugby league team represents Samoa in rugby league football and has participated in international competition since 1986. Known as Western Samoa before 1997, the team is administered by Rugby League Samoa and are nicknamed Toa Samoa (English: ''Samoan Warriors''). Ross Gigg
Ross Gigg (29 April 1956 - 8 May 2014) was an Australian professional rugby league footballer who played with the Penrith Panthers in the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) competition. Gigg's playing career spanned 1974-1979 and 1982-84. He made 110 first grade appearances, scoring 31 tries and six goals for a career total of 113 points. Gigg spent most of his career playing in the Centre position. Junior Football Gigg played all of his junior football with the Blacktown Leagues club, now Blacktown City RLFC (Blacktown Bears) in the Penrith district. He captained the Penrith SG Ball team in 1971 and the Jersey Flegg team in 1973. Both of these teams made it through to the final - only to lose both times. His favoured position at this stage was five-eighth. Gigg was also a competitive athlete, making it to the final of the 400 metres and coming second in Javelin at the 1974 NSW State carnival. Luke Lewis (born 11 August 1983) is an Australian rugby league commentator and former professional rugby league footballer who played for the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks and the Penrith Panthers in the National Rugby League (NRL) and Australia at international level. He played for the Penrith Panthers between 2001 and 2012, winning the 2003 NRL Premiership with them. He played at representative level for the City Origin side, New South Wales and the NRL All Stars. A versatile player, Lewis played (but not necessarily started) in every position in first grade football. The Wests Tigers are an Australian professional Rugby league, rugby league football team, based in the Inner West and South West Sydney. They have competed in the National Rugby League since being formed at the end of the 1999 NRL season as a joint-venture club between the Balmain Tigers and the Western Suburbs Magpies. The Wests Tigers started playing in the 2000 NRL season and they won their maiden premiership in 2005 NRL season, 2005. It is one of only two clubs (the other being the Newcastle Knights) that has never lost a Grand Final in which it has participated. Masada Iosefa (26 January 1988 – 25 January 2021) was a Samoan professional rugby league footballer who played as a in the 2000s and 2010s for the Penrith Panthers and Wests Tigers in the NRL.
