"Black Magic" is a song by Australian musician Baker Boy, which features vocals from fellow Indigenous Australian Dallas Woods. It was released in July 2018. The song is inspired by sports heroes who have stood up against racism in the past, including athlete Cathy Freeman and AFL legend Nicky Winmar who stood up against the crowd's racial abuse in a match between St Kilda and Collingwood in 1993. The song also references the Stolen Generation and Kevin Rudd's apology to Australia's Indigenous peoples in 2008. Danzal James Baker (born 10 October 1996), known professionally as Baker Boy, is a Yolngu rapper, dancer, artist, and actor. Baker Boy is known for performing original hip-hop songs incorporating both English and Yolŋu Matha and is one of the most prominent Aboriginal Australian rappers. He was made Young Australian of the Year in 2019, and his song "Cool as Hell" was nominated in several categories in the 2019 ARIA Awards. In 2018, he won two awards at the National Indigenous Music Awards, and was named Male Artist of the Year in the National Dreamtime Awards. His debut album, ''Gela'', was released on 15 October 2021. Eunice Kathleen Waymon (February 21, 1933 – April 21, 2003), known professionally as Nina Simone (), was an American singer, songwriter, pianist, and civil rights activist. Her music spanned styles including classical, folk, gospel, blues, jazz, R&B, and pop. Yolŋu Matha (), meaning the 'Yolŋu tongue', is a linguistic family that includes the languages of the Yolngu (also known as the Yolŋu and Yuulngu languages), the indigenous people of northeast Arnhem Land in northern Australia. The ''ŋ'' in Yolŋu is pronounced as the ''ng'' in ''singing''. Varieties Yolŋu Matha consists of about six languages, some mutually intelligible, divided into about thirty clan varieties and perhaps twelve different dialects, each with its own Yolŋu name.
